Idaho Falls Community Hospital is looking for a Cath Lab/IR Cardiology Nurse Lead to join our team!
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting the cardiologist in diagnostic cardiac catheterizations and interventional procedures on patients and providing quality nursing care, assessing and managing patient care in the cardiac catheterization lab, and support interventional radiology as needed. In-addition, the Nursing Lead serves as a clinical leader and professional nursing resource for the Cath Lab. The Nursing Lead promotes clinical excellence, patient safety, evidence-based practice, staff competency, education, professional development, and efficient clinical workflow. The Nursing Lead works collaboratively with the Nurse Manager, Nursing Supervisor, Charge Nurses, physicians, advanced practice providers, technologists, anesthesia, Pre/Post Recovery staff, and interdisciplinary partners.
The Cardiac Cath Lab Nurse patient-care specialist in all aspects of the Cardiac Catheterization Closely monitoring the patient for improvement or complications, administering medications including conscious sedation and assisting the Interventionist are some of the tasks of this role.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Direct Patient Care
1. Performs comprehensive nursing assessments and identifies patient care needs throughout the continuum of care.
2. Conducts pre-procedure patient evaluations and preparation.
3. Assists physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures including:
- o Cardiac catheterizations, Coronary interventions, Peripheral vascular procedures, Structural heart procedures, Pacemaker and ICD implantation, Electrophysiology-related procedures as applicable and Interventional Radiology procedures as assigned
4. Provides direct nursing care based on established standards of practice, policies, and procedures.
5. Administers medications and moderate sedation under physician direction and in accordance with organizational policy and demonstrated competency.
6. Monitors patient physiological status before, during, and after procedures.
7. Recognizes and responds appropriately to patient complications and emergent situations.
8. Demonstrates competency in all Cath Lab nursing roles, including:
- o Scrub nurse
- o Circulating nurse
- o Monitoring nurse
- o Procedure documentation and recording
9. Accurately documents assessments, interventions, patient responses, and outcomes in the medical record.
10. Collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes.
11. Supports timely admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
12. Participates in after-hours call and emergency response coverage as assigned.

1. Assists with orientation and onboarding of new nursing staff.
2. Supports development and delivery of department education programs.
3. Assists in the development, maintenance, and validation of nursing competencies.
4. Facilitates clinical learning opportunities and case reviews.
5. Provides education regarding:
o New procedures, Equipment and device utilization, Medications, Technology updates, and Regulatory requirements
6. Supports annual competency assessments and skills validations.
7. Promotes professional certification and continuing education.
8. Serves as a clinical resource to help staff develop specialty knowledge and expertise.

V. Workflow and Process Improvement
1. Evaluates clinical workflow and operational efficiency.
2. Identifies barriers to patient care and department productivity.
3. Assists with standardization of clinical processes and practices.
4. Collaborates with Charge Nurses and leadership to improve patient flow.
5. Identifies opportunities to reduce delays and improve service delivery.
6. Provides recommendations regarding workflow improvements and operational initiatives.
7. Assists with implementation and evaluation of new services, procedures, and technologies.

VI. Emergency Preparedness
1. Supports department readiness for cardiovascular and procedural emergencies.
2. Participates in emergency preparedness activities, including mock codes and simulations.
3. Assists with staff education related to emergency response.
4. Promotes readiness of emergency equipment and supplies.
5. Identifies opportunities for improvement in emergency preparedness processes.
6. Provides clinical expertise related to:
o STEMI, Cardiogenic shock, Cardiac arrest, Arrhythmias, Pulmonary edema, Airway emergencies, Bleeding complications and Other high-risk cardiovascular emergencies
7. Participates in post-event debriefings and educational follow-up activities.

VII. Equipment, Technology, and Supply Resource
1. Serves as a clinical resource for procedural equipment, technology, and specialty devices.
2. Participates in product evaluations, equipment trials, and implementation activities.
3. Provides education and competency support related to equipment and technology.
4. Assists with workflow evaluation associated with new equipment or procedural changes.
5. Supports inventory management and weekly stocking of procedural supplies.
6. Collaborates with leadership regarding equipment, supply, and technology needs.

VIII. General Organizational Responsibilities
1. Maintains required licensure, certifications, and competencies.
2. Completes mandatory annual education requirements.

Please note benefits are based on eligibility according to full-time, part-time or PRN status classification.
Qualifications
Education/Certification: Graduate of an accredited RN program. Current RN Licensure in the State of Idaho. Current BLS, ACLS certification and renewals, as required. Complete the Basic Dysrhythmia class with a grade of 84% or higher if no prior telemetry experience.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of cardiology catheterization lab experience is Preferred. Evaluation and programming of pacemakers and ICDs required.
Advanced Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation experience required.
Demonstrates the ability to function in all aspects of diagnostic and interventional catheterization to include scrubbing, circulating, monitoring and recording of procedures,12 lead EKG interpretation, cardiac medications, emergency management of cardiac patients, current clinical practice guidelines in cardiology, and secondary prevention.
