We’re looking for a Heavy Haulage Department Manager to lead our Auckland heavy haulage operation. In this role, you’ll take charge of a technically complex department that plans and delivers heavy haulage solutions for oversized, overweight and specialised loads across the region and beyond.

You’ll lead the safe, compliant and efficient movement of plant, equipment and project cargo, while driving strong operational performance, people leadership and customer outcomes. This is a role for someone who knows the technical detail, can lead from the front, and thrives when the work is serious and the standards are high.

Ngā tino kawenga mahi | Key role responsibilities

- Lead the Auckland heavy haulage department, overseeing daily operations, people leadership and delivery performance.
- Manage the planning and execution of specialised transport movements, including route assessments, permit requirements, vehicle and trailer allocation, and load compliance.
- Drive high standards across safety, maintenance, regulatory compliance and operational risk management in a high-stakes transport environment.
- Build capability across the team by coaching supervisors, operators and drivers, setting clear expectations and creating accountability.
- Work closely with internal teams, customers and stakeholders to deliver reliable heavy haulage services that keep major projects and operations moving.

- A minimum of 5 years’ transport experience, with heavy haulage experience strongly preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of heavy haulage operations, including transport logistics, fleet management, budgeting, financial control, heavy vehicle compliance, vehicle weights and dimensions, mass rule requirements, weight permits, route planning, load restraint, specialised trailers and vehicle capabilities.
- Proven leadership experience in heavy haulage, specialised transport, logistics, plant transport or a closely related operational environment.
- A solid track record leading teams, improving performance and managing operational delivery in a safety-critical environment.
- A confident, straight-up leadership style with strong communication skills and the ability to build trust across crews, customers and stakeholders.
