About the role
As the North Cluster Head for Manufacturing, you will be responsible for overseeing manufacturing operations across multiple production units within the North India region. The role involves leading end-to-end manufacturing function, ensuring operational efficiency, cost optimization, and adherence to quality and safety standards. This position plays a critical role in driving productivity, innovation, and sustainability while aligning with the overall business strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead Manufacturing operations, project management and operation excellence.
- Oversee six manufacturing units in the North India region, ensuring efficient production processes, capacity utilization, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Drive operational excellence initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure adherence to quality control measures and maintain high product standards in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Implement continuous improvement programs such as TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma.
- Ensure on-time and cost-effective supply of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods across all manufacturing locations.
- Leverage technology and data analytics to enhance factory operations in the region.
- Lead project management for manufacturing expansions, including capacity enhancements, process automation, and infrastructure upgrades to support business growth.
- To scale up greenfield projects from inception to full operational capacity, ensuring efficient execution, cost optimization, and long-term sustainability.
2. Leading teams, Stakeholder Management and Managing Industrial relations at the sites
- Build, develop, and lead a high-performing team across multiple locations, ensuring leadership pipeline development and succession planning.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement among cross-functional teams.
- Partner with corporate leadership, R&D, sales, marketing and supply chain teams to align production strategies with business objectives.
- Manage relationships with government authorities and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance.
- Manage industrial relations at manufacturing sites, ensuring a harmonious work environment, effective labor negotiations, and compliance with statutory requirements.
3. Financial & Cost Management
- Drive cost optimization initiatives to improve plant efficiency, reduce wastage, and enhance profitability.
- Monitor key operational KPIs and drive data-driven decision-making.
- Prepare and manage operational budgets, CAPEX investments, and cost control measures.
4. Sustainability & Compliance
- Champion sustainability initiatives such as waste management, energy efficiency, and water conservation.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety, environmental, and legal compliance requirements.
- Implement best practices in workplace safety, employee well-being, and ethical sourcing.
Education
- Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical or equivalent from reputed institutes.
- Desirable: Energy Management Qualification is desirable.
Experience:
- Experience in manufacturing within the FMCG sector, with at least 5 years in a plant leadership role.
Key Skills:
- Expertise in leading manufacturing operations in FMCG or consumer focused businesses.
- Proven track record of driving operational excellence, cost efficiency, and manufacturing transformation.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with experience handling multi-location operations. Expertise in digital transformation, automation, and industry 4.0 practices is an advantage.
- Proven ability to scale up greenfield projects from inception to full operational capacity, ensuring efficient execution, cost optimization, and long-term sustainability.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/regions, analyze, set goals, meet deadlines, prioritize, organise and lead teams.
