Lead Research Engineer – Data Sciences - Clinical/Lifesciences

We would like to recruit candidate who has a keen interest and passion for inter-disciplinary research and development in data sciences and diagnostics. This person will be involved in hands-on analysis of clinical data and development of computational algorithms.

What are my responsibilities?

- Drive research at the intersection of clinical data and AI/ML to solve complex problems in healthcare and diagnostics.
- Analyze and model multimodal clinical and diagnostic data using statistical, machine learning and AI approaches to derive clinically meaningful insights and decision-support solutions.
- Design, develop and evaluate AI/ML algorithms with a strong focus on methodological rigor, robustness, generalizability and clinical relevance.
- Develop reproducible research pipelines for data preparation, feature engineering, model development, validation and performance assessment using Python, R or other appropriate programming languages.
- Contribute to scientific innovation through patents, publications in high-impact journals and conferences, technical reports and other forms of intellectual property.
- Mentor junior researchers and data scientists , promote scientific rigor and reproducibility, and contribute to building a strong research culture within the team.
- Communicate complex technical and scientific concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

What do I need to qualify for this job?

- Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Biomedical Engineering or a related quantitative discipline. Masters with 3-5 years of experience or PhDs with 0-2 years of experience, having some experience in the clinical, health or disease diagnostics focus.
- Strong research orientation and scientific curiosity , with demonstrated ability to formulate research questions, develop hypotheses, investigate novel approaches and independently drive research projects.
- Strong theoretical and practical foundation in statistics, machine learning and data science , including appropriate understanding of model development, validation, uncertainty and statistical inference.
- Hands-on experience working with real-world clinical, biomedical or healthcare data , preferably involving longitudinal, multimodal, high-dimensional or observational datasets.
- Proficiency in Python and/or R , with the ability to build robust and reproducible data analysis and machine learning pipelines.
- Experience with modern machine learning and deep learning methodologies and relevant frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn or equivalent tools.
- Experience with clinical prediction, risk stratification, decision support, medical AI or healthcare analytics is highly desirable.
- Understanding of experimental design, clinical study methodology and evaluation of AI/ML models in healthcare is a strong advantage.
- Experience with cloud-based data and ML environments such as Azure, AWS or equivalent platforms is a plus.
- Strong scientific communication skills , with demonstrated ability to contribute to peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, patents or other research outputs.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams .
- A strong interest in turning scientific research into impactful healthcare solutions is essential.
