About the Role:
This is a focused 6–12 month transformation engagement within FP&A, reporting to the Head of FP&A. The FP&A Transformation Manager will design and embed new data, systems and reporting processes across budgeting, forecasting, cash, workforce planning and revenue reporting. Success in this role depends on strong finance domain knowledge combined with a genuine ability to work hands-on with data and systems: cleansing, mapping, and designing efficient, low-manual-effort pipelines from source data through to board pack and budget holder reporting. The ideal candidate will take a pragmatic 80/20 approach, delivering quick, visible impact first before refining the detail. They will combine their technical execution with expert change management to leave behind a smooth, embedded process that the business can run without them once the engagement ends.
About you:
In terms of your experience, your attitude is everything, but we'd particularly love to see your:
- Proven, practical experience redesigning budgeting, forecasting or cash forecasting processes within a business.
- Demonstrated experience building budget files and forecasting tools that budget holders can use and update themselves, not just finance.
- Practical experience in workforce planning and cost modelling, including analysing the cost impact of workforce decisions.
- Hands-on experience with data cleansing, mapping and structuring data to support flexible reporting.
- Experience designing and maintaining a clear cost ownership allocation process, including for supplier invoices where the correct owner isn’t always obvious.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial concepts (like the difference between cash and P&L, accruals, and prepayments) into clear, actionable language for non-finance stakeholders.
- Experience improving reporting accuracy, including designing simple, repeatable processes that non-finance teams (e.g. client delivery or customer success) can easily apply to capture granular data on why variances occur.
- Strong understanding of technology, data, systems and process design.
- A pragmatic 80/20 mindset — able to give examples of delivering fast initial impact before refining the detail.
- Comfortable working as a fixed-term or project-based transformation resource, with a track record of designing and handing over processes rather than running them long-term.
- Genuine curiosity about technology and automation, with examples of using these to solve real finance problems.
- Proven track record in change management—capable of influencing without authority, proactively managing resistance, and driving widespread adoption of new ways of working across diverse teams.
- Experience designing and delivering training, playbooks, or onboarding materials that empower business users to confidently take ownership of new processes.
- Familiarity with tools similar to our stack: Google Sheets, BigQuery, NetSuite, Pivot (AP), Ironclad (contract management), HubSpot (CRM) and Kantata (project management). Knowledge of SQL would also be an advantage.
What will you be doing?
- Design processes and data pipelines that populate reporting packs with minimal manual effort, working backwards from the reporting output to ensure the underlying data inputs are clean and the transformation from data to output is efficient.
- Design user-friendly forecasting files that make it easy for budget holders to update their own forecasts.
- Redesign the cash forecast so its inputs are easy to maintain and feed from source systems as much as possible, reducing manual updates.
- Design a clear, durable process for cost ownership allocation, including identifying owners for supplier invoices and costs, that the business can keep accurate without ongoing finance involvement.
- Structure data to enable better workforce planning and dynamic cost modelling, including the cost impact of workforce decisions.
- Set up a repeatable, streamlined process for capturing granular variances and commentary, designed so the business, not finance, can easily apply and own the tagging.
- Act as an internal consultant and change agent: partner actively with stakeholders to understand their pain points, communicate the "why" behind new processes, and champion the transition.
- Apply an 80/20 approach: deliver quick impact first, then refine the detail into a smooth, embedded process.
- Identify opportunities to use AI and automation to remove repetitive manual work across FP&A processes.
- Develop clear documentation and execute a structured handover plan (including training sessions) to ensure new processes run smoothly as business-as-usual once the engagement ends.
- Other ad-hoc FP&A projects
