About this role
Description
Want to shape how thousands of data center employees learn and grow? As a Learning Experience Designer on the AWS Data Center Learning team, you will own the instructional design strategy for your portfolio and manage the end-to-end delivery of training solutions that support Amazon's global data center workforce. From Day 1 onboarding through career development, you will balance deep instructional design craft with the program management rigor needed to plan, prioritize, and deliver multiple concurrent projects on time and within scope. You will use data to drive decisions at every stage, from identifying learner needs through measuring impact. This is a full-time (five day) office position.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead learning needs analyses in partnership with subject matter experts (SMEs), Program Managers, and business stakeholders, translating business and performance goals into instructional strategies that drive measurable behavior change.
- Own the instructional design of your portfolio, defining learning objectives, content structure, assessment strategy, and evaluation criteria grounded in adult learning principles.
- Make data-driven decisions across the content lifecycle: define success metrics up front, instrument training to capture meaningful signals, and use performance and feedback data to prioritize work and validate design choices.
- Apply ADDIE and Agile methodologies to manage the full content development lifecycle, from analysis and design through development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Program manage multiple concurrent projects, building and maintaining project plans, timelines, and risk mitigations while communicating clear status to stakeholders throughout delivery.
- Drive intake, scoping, and prioritization of new learning requests, using data and business impact to make trade-off decisions and set realistic delivery commitments.
- Design and develop learning in a variety of formats including web-based training, instructor-led training, job aids, how-to videos, and hands-on practical assessments.
- Translate complex technical data center concepts into clear, accessible learning content for a global audience.
- Use data, metrics, and learner feedback to measure training effectiveness, continuously improve existing content, and identify gaps in the learning portfolio.
- Apply AI-assisted design tools and workflows to accelerate content development and enhance the overall learner experience.
A day in the life
Your day starts catching up on emails, Slacks, and tickets that came up overnight. Once you confirm nothing is urgent, you plan your day: review your project plans, check in on sprint deliverables, and block off focus time. You might run a needs-analysis working session with SMEs, map learning objectives for a new course, or dig into your dashboards to see how a recently launched solution is performing. Later, you facilitate a project sync to clear blockers and keep delivery on track, then shift into focused design work, drafting content, structuring assessments, or refining existing training based on feedback and metrics.
