About this role
Under the direction and supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse assigned to each shift, assists with care and daily activity of residents, performing related tasks in improving the quality of life and helping ensure quality care for residents. Reports to supervisor/manager of unit.
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Certification as a Nursing Assistant highly preferred.
- Experience as a nursing assistant required.Compassion and understanding of elderly people; desire to work with elderly with chronic disabilities; cheerful, pleasant demeanor; comfortable in role of companion to resident and team member to staff; ability to contribute cooperatively and constructively toward better resident care in areas of activities, housekeeping chores, companionship and food service, as well as care activities of daily living; ability to work well with others and function in stressful situations; ability to relate well to residents and families; strong sense of responsibility; ability to perform some special skills and operate special equipment; ability to follow oral and/or written instructions is required.
