Position Summary:

Installs and repairs residential and commercial propane and/or oil burner equipment and appliances while ensuring a high level of customer service. The responsibilities of this position are carried out with particular attention to maintaining customer property and working as a trusted advisor. The Service Technician serves as a Dead River Company ambassador by adhering to our Brand Promise.

Essential Functions:

- Install, troubleshoot, and repair oil and/or propane heating equipment and appliances in accordance with applicable codes, safety requirements, and company policies.

- Perform efficiency tests, tune-ups, and service inspections.

- Eliminates callbacks and reduces liability by ensuring that all work is performed safely and accurately.

- Promotes image as a trusted advisor through a neat appearance, clean uniform and timely, safe, and ensures high level of customer service.

- Promotes Dead River company products and services. Advises customers on best options for specific needs.

- Maintains a neat and orderly service vehicle. Ensures that all tools and equipment are in safe operating condition.

- Immediately records and reports parts and labor for service calls in accordance with company procedures.

- Maintains and tracks parts inventories in service vehicle.

- Participate in night and weekend on-call schedule, as necessary.

- Performs propane gas-check inspections according to applicable codes and company policy without supervision.

- May perform HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical work as required by market.

- Assists in the training of apprentices and journeymen.

Experience:

- Successful completion of oil burner and or propane training course or CETP/PEP program desired; training and education provided.

- Must have three or more years of relevant oil and/or propane service experience.

Education:

- A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Technical school training is preferred.

Certification and Licensing:

- Must possess a valid New Hampshire Fuel Gas Fitter license/certification appropriate for propane installation, service, and repair.

- Prior oil-fired equipment installation, service, and repair experience required.

- NORA certification preferred.

- HAZMAT endorsement preferred.

- HVAC, electrical wiring and/or plumbing preferred.

- Universal 608 EPA certification preferred for HVAC/refrigeration/heat pump work.

- Previous heating technician experience preferred.

- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical.

- Must have a valid motor vehicle drivers license. Driving record is reviewed at employment, and annually thereafter, and must meet company standards. CDL is not required, but it is desired.
