Title: Project Engineer - NGSW Equipping & Energetics
Location: Independence, MO
Salary: $104,700 - $157,000 depending on experience level
Schedule: 9/80 schedule
Relocation Available - preference will be given to local candidates.
Focus: We are seeking a Project Engineer – NGSW Equipping & Energetics (New Generation Squad Weapon) to support engineering projects involving energetic manufacturing processes from concept through successful completion. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects safely, on time, within scope and on budget while supporting technical problem-solving, process improvements and equipment implementation. Previous experience working with energetics is desired.
Project Engineer Essential Job Functions:
- Assist in designing, modifying, and upgrading machinery and production equipment to improve efficiency, safety, and reliability.
- Develop equipment technical requirements.
- Conduct data analysis to drive decisions.
- Launch new equipment and processes including maintenance and operations procedure development.
- Participate in site visits, inspections, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve machinery-related issues, reducing downtime and enhancing system performance.
- Collaborate with teams to optimize production processes, ensure compliance with industry regulations, and implement best practices for operational success.
- Prepare technical reports, project documentation, cost estimates, and progress updates to support informed decision-making and project management.
Project Engineer Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree* in engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
- Experience working energetics preferred.
- Solid understanding of mechanical systems and machinery.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results in a high-pressure environment.
- Effectively set priorities, manage high-volume workload, and willingness to be collaborative and support team efforts.
- Ability to travel approximately 10%.
Location-Specific Requirements:
- Department of Defense secret security clearance preferred.
- Must possess a valid US Driver’s License.
- This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
- This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
- This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen.
