Schedule: 4x10 weekend days, F-M 6:00AM-4:30PM

Salary:

- Starting Pay: $34.56 to $37.00 per hour (dependent on experience) with yearly wage increases

Gunsmith Essential Responsibilities

- Inspect, repair, adjust and maintain test barrels, receivers, weapons, and auxiliary equipment to ensure proper operation condition.
- Set up, operate and maintain machine tools and related equipment, include lathes, milling machines and saws.
- Identify defects and malfunctions by interpreting work orders, technical documents, blueprints and precision measuring instruments.

Minimum Qualifications

- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1-year demonstrated work experience and one of the following: Completion of an accredited gunsmith program; OR,
- Certified Armorer documentation by a brand of the U. S. Armed Services.

- Related experience with handguns, small caliber ammunition handling, loading/reloading, or gunsmithing preferred.
- Working knowledge of gun-smithing tools and procedures.
- Ability to read and understand blueprint drawings to fabricate parts and make necessary repairs.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must possess full vision, including color vision.

Location-Specific Requirements:

- Must possess a valid US driver’s license.
- This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
- This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
- This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant.  Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen.
