SUMMARY OF POSITION
Kinsley Construction is seeking an Estimator to join our Site Team in York, PA. The Site Estimator plays a crucial role in our project development process, providing accurate cost estimates and supporting our mission to deliver outstanding construction projects to our clients. As a Site Estimator, you will be responsible for evaluating project plans, conducting site visits, analyzing data, and preparing detailed cost estimates. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of heavy civil construction processes and materials.
The successful candidate should possess an Engineering or Construction Management degree or background along with applicable field experience, strong computer skills, and good communication skills. Please note that this position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with Kinsley Construction policies and procedures.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Review project plans, specifications, and site conditions to develop a comprehensive understanding of project requirements.
- Conduct on-site visits to gather information about existing conditions, potential challenges, and opportunities.
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and other project-related expenses.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options to enhance project profitability.
- Work closely with other team members to ensure that cost estimates align with project goals and client expectations.
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing information and build relationships with key industry partners.
- Monitor project costs throughout the construction process, comparing actual costs to estimated costs and making necessary adjustments.
- Stay current with industry trends, materials, and construction methods to provide innovative and cost-effective solutions.
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong computer skills along with proficient written/verbal communication.
- Experience in civil construction estimating.
- Experience with HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, AGTEK or similar take-off software, and Microsoft Office
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- A degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
