Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Supply Chain Manager, the Associate Receiving & Shipping Supervisor is responsible for supporting and coordinating the day-to-day activities of the Receiving & Shipping department, including receiving, shipping, material movement, and storage of packaging and indirect materials. This is a hands-on supervisory role responsible for helping ensure materials and shipments are processed safely, accurately, and on time.
The Associate Supervisor provides daily direction to employees, monitors workflow and priorities, supports adherence to standard work and company procedures, and escalates operational issues as appropriate. The role also supports continuous improvement activities and maintains appropriate inventory levels of packaging supplies and other indirect materials required to support operations.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee daily Receiving & Shipping activities, including inbound receiving, outbound shipping, material movement, and related transactions to support safe, accurate, and timely operations.
- Provide day-to-day direction to Receiving & Shipping employees, including assigning work, communicating priorities, monitoring progress, and helping address issues that could impact safety, quality, productivity, or on-time shipment performance.
- Support employee performance through regular communication, coaching, training, and feedback. Escalate performance or employee-relations concerns to the Supply Chain Manager as appropriate.
- Ensure employees follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, safety requirements, quality requirements, trade compliance requirements, and company policies. Identify opportunities to improve standard work and support implementation of approved changes.
- Monitor daily operational performance and department metrics. Identify issues, communicate concerns, and assist with corrective actions and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment by reinforcing safety expectations, participating in safety activities, and supporting 5S/6S standards within Receiving & Shipping areas.
- Maintain appropriate storage locations for packaging supplies and other indirect materials. Establish and monitor min/max inventory levels, replenish supplies as needed, and work with appropriate suppliers and internal stakeholders to help prevent shortages or excess inventory.
- Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for designated suppliers of packaging and other indirect materials, coordinating supply requirements and resolving routine delivery or availability issues.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, records, and reports related to receiving, shipping, material movement, and department activities.
- Perform and support required transactions in SAP and other applicable systems to ensure accurate and timely recording of receiving, shipping, and material movements.
- Monitor employee time off in Workday and review/approve employee time in UKG in accordance with established procedures.
- Coordinate with Production, Planning, Purchasing, Customer Service, Quality, and other departments to support material flow, shipment priorities, and overall operational requirements.
- Participate in department projects and continuous improvement initiatives and complete assigned actions within established timelines.
- Provide coverage and hands-on support within Receiving & Shipping operations as business needs require.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree or additional education in business, supply chain, logistics, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in receiving, shipping, logistics, material handling, manufacturing, or a related environment required. Previous lead or supervisory experience required .
- Ability to provide day-to-day direction, coaching, and support to employees.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize work, coordinate multiple activities, and follow through on assigned tasks.
- Working knowledge of receiving, shipping, material handling, and inventory control practices.
- Experience using an ERP system; SAP experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office applications.
- Understanding of workplace safety requirements and ability to reinforce established safety procedures.
- Ability to follow and reinforce company policies, procedures, and standard work.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and adjust to changing operational priorities.
Pay Range:
$32.00 - $48.00
Actual base salary offered varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
