The Defense Sector at Leidos is currently looking for a Senior Fires and Effects Subject Matter Expert. The Senior Fires and Effects Subject Matter Expert provides expert‑level leadership, analysis, and operational support across the full spectrum of joint fires, effects integration, and multi‑domain operational planning. This role supports senior leaders, Combatant Commands, and mission‑partner organizations by delivering authoritative fires expertise, rigorous analytical products, and high‑impact operational assessments.

You will lead planning, execution, sustainment, and training activities that ensure Fires/Effects processes remain precise, interoperable, and aligned with evolving operational requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Fires & Effects Operations Leadership — Provide senior‑level management of planning, preparation, research, coordination, and execution of Fires/Effects‑related tasks, delivering authoritative analysis and mission‑focused expertise.
- Analytical Product Development — Develop and deliver detailed analytical reports, workflow visualizations, mission‑thread products, and executive briefings that support operational decision‑making.
- Test Planning & Execution — Conduct structured testing activities to validate Fires/Effects processes, systems, and mission‑partner interoperability.
- Progress Reporting — Report task progress to Senior Program Management Analysts and government leads, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and timely updates.
- Internal Training Delivery — Conduct internal training aligned to Fires/Effects subject‑matter expertise, strengthening team proficiency and operational readiness.
- Sustainment & Process Improvement — Support sustainment efforts to ensure consistent quality, efficiency, and productivity across all assigned tasks.
- Advanced Communication Skills — Communicate clearly and effectively in written reports and verbal presentations, tailoring complex Fires/Effects concepts for diverse audiences.
- Operational Interviewing — Interview military, civilian, and contractor personnel to efficiently extract operational and technical information required for Fires/Effects analysis.
- Operational Impact Assessment — Apply advanced analytical skills to identify capabilities and limitations, assess operational impacts, and provide focused, achievable recommendations.
- Multi‑Domain Fires Expertise — Provide expert‑level understanding of Multi‑Domain Joint Fires and Effects, including weapons systems, fires coordination, and tactical fires integration.
- Joint Fires Execution — Demonstrate experience preparing fire support plans, identifying targets, coordinating fires positions, directing fires, processing tactical battlefield information, integrating data across networks, operating fires databases, processing firing solutions, executing precision missions, and controlling tactical fires.

Basic Qualifications:

- US Citizen with an active Secret clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years related experience or Master’s degree and 6+ years related experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum 8 years supporting military operational activities; minimum 8 years Targeting experience.
- C5ISRT (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) and Targeting Experience.
- Experience developing target packages and target list with detailed intelligence, capabilities and vulnerabilities.
- Experience in supporting multi-domain mission planning and effects-based targeting.
- Experience with automated targeting tools (e.g. JTT, MIDB) and Service specific fire control systems.
- Shall have a deep understanding of the F2T2EA Cycle and the data tools and techniques utilized for each phase of targeting.
- Analyze the operational effectiveness of targeting systems in various scenarios and environments.
- Evaluate the impact of emerging technologies and trends on Targeting systems.
- Working knowledge of U.S, NATO, and coalition partner targeting processes, procedures, and systems.
- Apply analytical tools and methodologies to assess targeting system performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Must possess skills to communicate effectively and clearly in written reports and verbal presentations.
- Must possess skills to interview operational and technical military, civilian, and contractor to efficiently and accurately extract information.
- Must possess analytical skills to identify capabilities and limitations, assess operational impacts and provide focused, achievable recommendations.
- Demonstrated Joint All Domain Operations and joint planning expertise grounded in joint and Service doctrine (e.g., JP 3-0 joint operations and JADO fundamentals, AFDP 3-0, AFDP 3-60)

- Familiarity with Maven Smart System (MSS) and its associated tool suites

## Pay Range:
Pay Range $92,300.00 - $166,850.00
