Commercial Business Unit Lead, Payroll Software at Shine

Shine Salary, our payroll software for Danish businesses, is already an established and fast-growing business unit in Denmark, and we have ambitious growth plans for 2027.

We are looking for a Commercial Business Unit Lead to take commercial ownership of Shine Salary and accelerate that growth.

This is a highly hands-on role for someone who understands how to drive performance in a digital subscription business: identifying new growth opportunities while continuously improving the channels, journeys and initiatives that are already working.

What you will do

You will own the commercial performance of Shine Salary across the full customer journey, with a strong focus on growth, acquisition, conversion and retention.

Drive growth

- Own revenue, customer growth and commercial performance for Shine Salary.
- Deliver against ambitious 2027 growth targets.
- Identify new opportunities to accelerate acquisition and revenue.
- Continuously optimise existing channels, campaigns and customer journeys.
- Understand where growth is being created or lost and turn insights into concrete actions.
- Build and test new commercial initiatives quickly and scale what works.

Performance & acquisition

- Work hands-on with Performance Marketing to improve paid acquisition across channels.
- Understand CAC, conversion, funnel performance and customer economics in detail.
- Optimise the journey from traffic and sign-up through activation and first payroll run.
- Improve CRM, lifecycle marketing, retention and reactivation.
- Identify opportunities to increase ARPU and customer lifetime value.
- Develop cross-sell opportunities with the wider Shine ecosystem.

Commercial ownership

- Own forecasting, targets and business performance.
- Track the core commercial KPIs and act quickly when performance is below expectations.
- Identify opportunities across pricing, packaging, partnerships, channels and customer segments.
- Build clear business cases for new growth initiatives.
- Prioritise resources and initiatives based on commercial impact.

Product & market

- Bring strong commercial insight into the Product roadmap.
- Translate customer behaviour, performance data and market opportunities into clear priorities.
- Identify product improvements that can materially increase acquisition, activation or retention.
- Stay close to competitors and developments in the Danish payroll market.

Within 6 months, you have:

- Built a clear view of the key growth drivers, opportunities and bottlenecks across Shine Salary.
- Improved performance across existing acquisition channels and customer journeys.
- Identified, tested and launched new scalable growth opportunities.
- Established clear commercial ownership, priorities and performance tracking for the business.
- Created strong alignment across Product, Marketing, CRM, Sales and Customer Service around the next phase of Salary growth.

Where the role sits

You will report to the General Manager Denmark and be part of the Danish leadership team.

You will collaborate closely with the other Business Unit Leads in the Danish market, while working cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, CRM, Sales, Customer Service and Finance to drive the growth of Shine Salary.

What you will bring

We are looking for a commercial growth and performance expert who enjoys being close to the numbers and close to execution.

You likely have:

- Strong experience growing a SaaS, fintech or subscription business.
- Deep understanding of digital acquisition, conversion and performance marketing.
- Strong knowledge of CAC, LTV, retention and subscription economics.
- Experience improving funnels and customer journeys through data and experimentation.
- A track record of identifying new growth opportunities and scaling successful initiatives.
- Strong analytical skills combined with a hands-on approach.
- Experience working closely with Product, Marketing and CRM teams.
- The ability to move quickly from insight to execution.

Payroll or HR software experience is very valuable, but commercial growth expertise is more important.
