Job Summary
OpenGov's Head of Platform Marketing owns the platform narrative for the Public Service Platform and ensures it lands consistently across every GTM touchpoint. This is a senior individual contributor role reporting to the SVP of Marketing, for an expert writer and presenter who understands how B2B SaaS businesses work and can make a complex platform story feel clear and compelling to government buyers, field teams, and executives alike.
## Responsibilities
Platform Narrative
- Own and evolve the platform narrative for the Public Service Platform, translating strategy into compelling content across every format: talk tracks, decks, video scripts, ad copy, onboarding material, and executive presentations
- Define what the field needs to believe and say about the platform above the product-line level: the story that connects ERP, Community Ops, and AI into something a government buyer actually understands
- Serve as the primary messaging counterpart to platform leadership: translating what is being built every week into content that resonates externally and keeps the field oriented as the platform evolves
- Own the narrative for OG Assist as OpenGov's most strategic platform capability; multiple value propositions are emerging and this role ensures they land with clarity and specificity across every audience
- Provide informed input on pricing and packaging decisions alongside platform leadership and growth marketing; brings the buyer and field perspective into those conversations without owning the outcome
- Make AI capabilities feel practical and specific to government buyers, not like a feature list
- Advise on platform narrative consistency across major external moments: analyst briefings, executive keynotes, conference presence
GTM Activation
- Ensure the platform story is consistent everywhere it shows up: seller pitches, PS and CS decks, onboarding, analyst briefings, press, and customer stories
- Set and hold the bar for what on-narrative content looks like; this is not about owning every output, it is about making sure nothing leaves misaligned
- Resolve conflicts before content reaches the field: AEs, CSMs, PS, and Support will surface competing needs and this role makes the call
- Create the conditions for GTM teams to stay excited about what we are building, not just informed about it; this person sets the pace and energy, not just the content
- Drive adoption of new capabilities with sellers, implementation teams, and customers; adoption is the metric, not completion of a training session
- Present and deliver directly when the moment calls for it; this person is credible in a room with AEs, CSMs, and executives alike
- Guide and influence cross-functional partners on platform messaging without direct authority
Writing & Storytelling
- Write copy that field teams read, believe, and use; not decks that get forgotten
- Own the work that cannot be automated: the judgment call, the room read, the narrative that only lands because a human made it
- Partner with growth marketers, comms, and product engineers to make sure launch moments land with the field, not just in a Slack announcement
- Lead customer-facing content (stories, case studies, enablement materials) that reflects the platform story accurately
## Requirements and Preferred Experience
- 8+ years of experience in product marketing, platform marketing, or a GTM-adjacent role at a B2B SaaS company required
- Expert ability to write with clarity and precision: takes complex platform stories and makes them feel specific and urgent to a buyer audience required
- Deep understanding of how a SaaS business works: what drives pipeline, how AEs sell, how CSMs retain, what PS is actually doing in a deployment required
- Technical fluency sufficient to work directly with product engineers and translate what they built into something a buyer cares about required
- High agency: sees the gap, fills it, does not wait to be asked required
- Exec presence: can own a room and deliver the story live, not just write it required
- Demonstrated AI fluency: directs AI-assisted workflows, assesses output quality, and builds for augmentation rather than treating AI as a search engine required
- Government technology or regulated industry experience preferred
Compensation:
Atlanta, GA: $170,000 - $190,000
On target ranges above include base plus a portion of variable compensation that is earned based on company and individual performance.
The final compensation will be determined by a number of factors such as qualifications, expertise, and the candidate’s geographical location.
