Job Title: Rotating Equipment Engineer Job Description
As a Rotating Equipment Engineer, you will be responsible for specifying and selecting a range of rotating equipment including reciprocating compressors, centrifugal compressors, cryogenic pumps, drivers such as electric motors and gas turbines, and their auxiliary equipment. You will develop and review datasheets, performance curves, vendor proposals, and conduct technical evaluations to ensure optimal equipment selection.
Responsibilities
- Specify and select rotating equipment including reciprocating and centrifugal compressors, and cryogenic pumps.
- Develop and review datasheets, performance curves, and vendor proposals.
- Perform rotor dynamics checks, vibration assessments, and basic speed/torque calculations.
- Coordinate detailed analysis with specialist vendors as required.
- Define alignment, foundation, and coupling requirements.
- Collaborate with civil and structural teams.
- Manage vendor technical clarifications and review vendor drawings.
- Approve test procedures and FAT/SAT reports.
- Provide commissioning and startup support, troubleshooting mechanical issues in the field.
- Offer initial operations and maintenance support during the project's warranty period.
- Contribute to maintenance strategy input and reliability-focused design choices.
- Ensure compliance with codes, API standards, and client-specific requirements.
Essential Skills
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience, with emphasis on active engineering and field support during construction, commissioning, and startup.
- Prior experience as a lead engineer on LNG and Power projects.
- Experience with compressor controls and turbomachinery monitoring systems.
- Hands-on commissioning/startup experience on rotating equipment.
- Understanding of API 610, API 617, API 618, and other relevant standards.
- Familiarity with rotor dynamics principles, vibration monitoring, and alignment practices.
- Experience with OEM string test requirements, including witnessing string tests.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and team collaboration.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in rotating equipment, LNG, cryogenics, and mechanical engineering.
- Knowledge of API standards.
Work Environment
The role is primarily office-based with a standard 40-hour work week. The position offers the opportunity for growth, as well as benefits such as holiday and PTO.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85.00 - $100.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
