This role is to manage the investigations teams in Chicago. The role involves the daily oversight of these teams, adherence to controls and procedures, and monitoring and developing the growth of staff.
The investigations team work with several internal business units and external financial institutions to resolve payment related investigations, and work to resolve these on a timely basis.

Major duties.
· Oversight of investigations day to day operations, ensuring policies, procedures and controls are being adhered to, and all work is completed on a day to day basis.
· Analysing the day day work to improve processes, and look for further automation and efficiencies.
· Coach, mentor and develop staff, providing career development and growth.
· Work with peers across regions to encourage cross-collaboration and sharing of duties, so there is no concentration of critical processes.
· Performance management of staff, including setting clear expectations and goals.
· Hiring and build out of new fraud monitoring team, which will include hiring of candidates, building out processes and procedures, and establishing controls.
· Work with our strategic change team to prepare for industry changes in payment infrastructure, e.g. ISO messaging formats.
· Development of monthly metrics for presentation to management.
· Driving projects for improvement within the department, and providing updates to management on progress.
Required Skills/Experience
· Previous people management experience is essential.
· Strong leadership skills.
· Strong knowledge of Swift payment messaging, e.g. MT103, 202, 202COV, 199, 299
· Knowledge of Fedwire, SWIFT, CHIPS and payment investigations
· Good industry knowledge, with previous experience in the cash and payment world, including regulatory impacts.
· Ability to resolve complex investigations, with good problem solving skills.
· Strong communication skills as there will be face off to senior management and client service teams.
· Strong MS Office Skills

Salary Range:
$123,400 - 216,000 USD
Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
