Major Duties

- Review monthly fund and business entity closing summaries for accuracy and completeness.
- Analyze and report financial data for distribution to clients and their investors.
- Complete the monthly close of fund books and records and produce final performance results.
- Partner with clients and other Integrated Portfolio Services teams to develop a thorough understanding of fund activities and transactions.
- Prepare annual and interim financial statements for funds and investment vehicles.
- Work directly with external auditors to support the audit process and ensure the accuracy of each fund’s annual financial statements.
- Operate independently and apply in-depth knowledge of the business unit and function.
- Support operational risk management and profitability by automating manual processes and calculations and recommending procedures to improve the integration and testing environments.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on IPS proprietary systems, answering questions regarding system functionality and capabilities and assisting with business problem-solving.
- Partner with IPS internal shared service teams to resolve accounting questions and ensure transactions receive the appropriate accounting treatment.
- Research technical accounting policy matters involving complex client transactions and new accounting pronouncements. Monitor changes to U.S. GAAP and IFRS.

- Conduct discovery and due diligence sessions with clients to gather requirements. Document back- and middle-office business requirements and test code releases in IPS integration and production environments.
- Partner with IPS IT and external vendors to determine development approaches for new functionality.
- Interact directly with clients throughout the discovery and onboarding phases.

Knowledge and Skills

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- In-depth functional and industry knowledge.
- Strong technical accounting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong technical and systems knowledge, including platforms such as PeopleSoft.
- Highly flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working in a changing environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with clients, auditors, technology teams, vendors, and internal business partners.

Experience

- College or university degree and/or relevant professional experience required.
- Relevant fund accounting, fund administration, financial services, or related industry experience preferred.
- Related professional qualification, such as a CPA, is preferred.

Salary Range:
$74,200 - 126,200 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
