As a Senior Software Engineer, you will take end-to-end ownership of different workstreams across the screening platform. You will operate with high autonomy, translating ambiguous organizational goals into clear technical roadmaps. You will research, identify, and lead critical problems for the team to solve. Partnering alongside a peer tech lead, you will carve out multi-quarter technical initiatives, establish architectural direction, and multiply the output of a talented pool of engineers.
Whether it is paying online with Autofill, using tap and pay in stores, or using the Google Pay app, the Payments team at Google is focused on making payments simple, seamless, and secure. In addition to consumer payment technologies, the Payments team also powers the money movement between Google and its consumers and businesses.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
- 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
- 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- Proven experience with contribution towards software design and architecture, demonstrating smooth production rollouts, due deligence and landing of complex systems in production.
- Familiarity with payments/compliance domain.
- Good exposure to the full collection of Google’s big-data infra (Flume, Storage), and experimentation infra (Rasta, Mendel).
- Scope out problems in Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) sanctions screening space and enable the technical strategy for problem statements.
- Set technical direction, author comprehensive design documents, and lead design reviews for complex, multi-quarter features within the team. Contribute actively to elevate system stability and production health, identify opportunities to improve the systems and scale them for future needs by influencing the leadership.
- Partner closely with cross-functional peers Product Managers (PMs), Technical Program Managers (TPGM’s), Payments Compliance Operations, Export legal, Platform teams to resolve architectural dependencies and align project timelines.
- Guide, mentor, and delegate tasks to adjacent junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing engineering culture.
