The Nurse Practitioner (Locum) works collaboratively with the Prevention and Early Intervention Program for Psychosis (PEPP) team, PEPP psychiatrist, primary care providers, and community partners to support the physical and mental health needs of clients experiencing early psychosis.
The Nurse Practitioner provides episodic psychiatric and primary care, physical health monitoring, medication-related assessment and follow-up, and short-term support for clients who do not have access to a primary care provider.

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING
- What you'll be making: $70.80 per hour
- When you'll work: Casual shifts (approximately 7 hours per week)

HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE
- Maintain requirements for practice, including registration as a Nurse Practitioner and appropriate malpractice insurance.
- Maintain confidentiality and practice ethically in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) standards.
- Maintain clinical competence through relevant evidence-based practice, education and legislation.
Prevention and Early Intervention Program for Psychosis (PEPP)
- Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary PEPP team and consulting psychiatrists to support comprehensive client care.
- Complete physical health assessments for new PEPP clients to support psychiatric assessment.
- Ensure routine laboratory and metabolic screening is completed as clinically indicated.
- Provide short-term primary care for PEPP clients who do not have access to a primary care provider.
- Serve as a clinical resource for clients and team members regarding medication side effects, physical health concerns and medication monitoring.
- Provide short-term follow-up following medication initiation or changes, as clinically indicated.
- Administer intramuscular medications, including gluteal injections, within scope of practice.
- Review clinical information and standardized assessments completed by the interdisciplinary team, including PANSS and AIMS assessments, as applicable.
- Promote integration of physical and mental health care for individuals experiencing early psychosis.
- Coordinate care with primary care providers, psychiatrists, pharmacies and other community health partners.
- Provide education and consultation to clients, families and team members as appropriate.
WE REQUIRE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse in the Extended Class (proof of registration required)
- Current certificate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle with adequate insurance to carry out job duties
WE PREFER THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree
- Experience working in mental health, psychiatric or primary care settings
- Experience supporting individuals experiencing psychosis or serious mental illness
- Knowledge of antipsychotic medications, metabolic monitoring and medication side-effect management
- Experience administering long-acting injectable medications
- Knowledge of early psychosis intervention principles and best practices
- Minimum of two to three years of community health care experience
- Excellent clinical, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Proficiency with electronic medical records, computers and virtual care technology
- Strong collaborative skills and experience working within an interdisciplinary team
