About the Role

GreenLight is recruiting a Singapore-based Event Manager for a full-time, twelve-month contract supporting OpenAI’s strategy and execution across a wide portfolio of events. Working under the guidance of the APAC Events lead, this role will partner closely with local and global cross-functional teams to deliver sophisticated, high-impact experiences for an innovative global technology organization.

The role will support projects across the wider APAC region with flexibility to travel and work in other markets based on business and event requirements.

The ideal candidate brings strong regional expertise, operational excellence, cultural fluency, and a passion for creating original, meaningful experiences, particularly within technology and thought leadership contexts. The role owns event operations, regional vendor coordination, guest experience, and post-event reporting.

This position is based in Singapore and requires working from the office at least three days per week, alongside travel across APAC and internationally as project needs require.

Key Responsibilities

- Own the full event lifecycle for programs, including concept development, planning, workstreams, budgeting, logistics, catering, and on-site production.
- Partner with local teams to translate regional priorities and OpenAI’s complex AI technology into locally relevant, globally consistent programming, clear event objectives, timelines, and measurable outcomes.
- Source, negotiate, and coordinate with trusted local vendors, including venues, caterers, AV providers, and creative production teams, while meeting OpenAI’s standards and compliance requirements.
- Own attendee registration, check-in processes, and event communications, including localized pre- and post-event outreach.
- Maintain meticulous financial records, manage budgets and procurement processes, coordinate invoices and multi-market payment and tax requirements with the relevant teams, and report expenditures against targets.
- Collaborate with OpenAI’s global and regional Marketing, Sales, Product, Policy, Communications, Partnerships, Procurement, and Security teams to align events with program goals, core narratives, and brand guidelines.
- Implement and manage locally appropriate safety, security, accessibility, and operational protocols, prioritizing attendee well-being and compliance.
- Measure event performance, collect attendee feedback, and share insights and regional learnings to continuously improve program quality and impact.
- Drive creative innovation across event touchpoints, producing original, immersive experiences that are bold, seamless, and differentiated.
- Manage high-stakes events involving senior executives, enterprise partners, developers, policymakers, and media.

Ideal Candidate Profile

You may be a strong fit for this role if you:

- Have 7+ years of experience leading complex, high-profile events at a global company, including end-to-end planning, on-site execution, and post-event analysis.
- Are based in Singapore, understand the local event landscape, and are willing and able to travel and work across APAC as needed to support other projects.
- Thrive in fast-paced environments while maintaining high standards across every aspect of a project.
- Are fluent in English and communicate with confidence, clarity, and cross-cultural sensitivity.
- Bring deep understanding of regional cultural nuances and audience expectations.
- Are energized by creating original, first-of-their-kind experiences.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects across business functions with confidence and clarity, prioritizing and making smart trade-offs as needs evolve.
- Have a strong network of regional vendors and production partners.
- Demonstrate strong financial and operational acumen, including budgeting, procurement, and multi-market payment and tax considerations.
- Have experience partnering with cross-functional leaders and stakeholders.
- Remain grounded and decisive amid ambiguity and shifting priorities, with a proactive, collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset.
- Have a strong interest in artificial intelligence and OpenAI’s global impact.
- Excel at building trusted relationships with local cross-functional teams, vendors, and agencies while delivering outstanding guest experiences in fast-moving environments.
