About this role
Immediately hiring! Are you an experienced automotive service professional interested in supporting the next generation of autonomous vehicle technology? If you excel at coordinating shop workflow, prioritizing repairs, and leading fast-paced service operations, join the Avis Budget Group team and help support our autonomous vehicle fleet.
Leveraging its strengths in large-scale fleet management, Avis Budget Group has entered into a strategic partnership with a leader in self-driving technology to launch and scale a fully autonomous ride-hailing service. This initiative reflects our commitment to advancing modern mobility solutions beyond traditional rental services.
As an Automotive Service Workflow Supervisor , you will act as the central point of coordination and visibility for maintenance work entering, moving through, and leaving the shop. You translate signals from our partner, telematics, and roadside recovery into clear, prioritized work for our technicians. You will act as the primary point of coordination to keep the shop moving.
Using your automotive service expertise, you will assess repair needs, assign work based on technician skill sets, and manage daily workflow to maximize productivity, repair quality, and vehicle availability. Your coordination will play an important role in keeping our autonomous vehicle fleet operating safely and efficiently.
What You’ll Do
- Intake & Triage: Oversee the intake and triage process for all vehicles, including vehicle assessments, work order reviews, diagnostic information and other alerts, prioritizing fleet-wide up-time targets, not first-in, first out.
- Dispatch & Traffic Control: Assign work to the right technician, monitoring daily shop workflow to promote efficient scheduling and balanced technician utilization, continually rebalancing work as needed.
- WIP Management: Maintain live awareness of every vehicle in the shop, reviewing technician productivity, coordinating and/or escalating to relevant parties and completing shift hand-offs.
- Operator Communication and Collaboration: Serve as the primary shop-floor point of contact, providing accurate proactive status updates, collaborating with the service manager, parts personnel, technicians, and operational partners to support timely repairs.
- Ride Hail Coordination: Own the handoff of the vehicle back to active customer use.
- Process & Continuous Improvement: Support continuous improvement initiatives and the consistent execution of standard operating procedures by analyzing shop performance data and recommending improvements that increase efficiency, vehicle availability, and service quality.
- Technician Oversight: Build a rapport with technicians, coach on quality, productivity and process, ensure repair assignments and completed work meet applicable quality, safety, and manufacturer standards, notify the Service Manager and/or on-duty Operations Manager, as appropriate, of any performance and/or behavioral issues.
- Diagnosis and Repair: May be required to perform mechanical, electrical, and high-voltage repairs across electric and autonomous vehicle platforms based on the needs of the business.
- Other duties as assigned.
