What You Will Contribute
Badger Meter is seeking a Human Resources Intern to join our People Operations team and gain hands-on experience across a variety of HR functions. This role will provide exposure to the day-to-day operations that support employees throughout the organization while providing opportunities to contribute to projects that improve processes and the overall employee experience.
You will support initiatives across HR operations, recruiting coordination, onboarding, employee engagement, workforce analytics, compliance, documentation, and process improvement . Working with HR team members and cross-functional stakeholders, you will have the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge to real-world workforce challenges and help develop solutions that improve how HR supports the business.
This is a 40-hour-per-week, summer internship based at our Milwaukee facility .
Essential Job Duties
- Support day-to-day HR and People Operations activities and projects.
- Assist with recruiting coordination, including interview scheduling, candidate communication, and recruiting-related administrative activities.
- Support onboarding activities and identify opportunities to improve the new-hire experience and onboarding processes.
- Assist with employee engagement initiatives and activities that support a positive employee experience.
- Support the collection, organization, and reporting of HR data and workforce metrics.
- Assist with HR data analysis and development of reports, dashboards, or other tools used to support workforce decisions.
- Research and assist with updates to HR policies, procedures, forms, and other employee documentation.
- Support compliance-related activities and help maintain accurate HR records and documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, workflows, and systems.
- Assist with documenting current processes and developing recommendations for improved efficiency and effectiveness.
- Participate in HR projects that involve cross-functional collaboration and process improvement.
- Research HR practices, trends, and emerging technologies that may benefit the organization.
- Assist with special projects across People Operations based on department priorities.
- Track project activities, action items, and deliverables.
- Communicate project updates and findings to HR team members and stakeholders.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate judgment when handling employee and organizational information.
- Provide fresh perspectives and recommendations based on research, data, and academic knowledge.
Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or a related field .
- Interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources, People Operations, Talent Acquisition, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze information, identify trends, and make thoughtful recommendations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint .
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.
