About this role

The UH-60 Sheetmetal Mechanic 2 performs, and inspects aviation unit (AVUM), intermediate (AVIM) and depot maintenance on assigned aircraft.

- Assemble structural parts and components to meet requirements.
- Perform structural repair, modification, and corrosion protection treatment with respect to original strength, weight, and contour to maintain structural integrity.
- Assemble repairs using special fasteners and adhesives.
- Ability to use jigs, fixtures, forms, and molds.
- Use metalworking equipment and tools to form, cut, bend, and fasten replacement or repair parts to damaged structures and components.
- Inspect and troubleshoot to determine cause of malfunctions; disassembles to point of trouble; adjust, repair, realign, fabricate, or replace defective components or assemblies.
- Incorporate authorized modifications and changes.
- Maintain and inspect tools and equipment.
- Assess damage to aircraft structural components.
- Check repairs for serviceability according to specifications and technical publications.
- Treat corrosion using mechanical and chemical procedures.
- Store, handle, and dispose of hazardous waste and materials according to environmental standards.
- Post entries and maintain maintenance and inspection records.
- Input, validate, and analyze data processed to automated systems. Clears and closes out completed maintenance discrepancies in automated maintenance systems.
- Recommend methods to improve equipment performance and maintenance procedures.
- Prepare forms and records related to aircraft maintenance.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Perform other qualified duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements :

- High School Graduate or equivalent is required.
- U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired.
- UH60A/L experience is a requirement.
- Valid FAA A&P or FCC License preferred, and Two (2) years aviation maintenance experience, three (3) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and Two (2) years on the assigned UH-60 (MDS).
- All experience must be within the Five (5) most recent years is required.
- If No A&P or FCC License , must have the following experience:
- Three (3) years aviation maintenance experience, three (3) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and Two (2) years on the assigned UH-60 MDS.
- All experience must be within the Six (6) most recent years.
- Must have a Valid US Passport, with a minimum of 18 months remaining to expiration.
- Ability to obtain/maintain Security Clearance (NAC-I T1) Public Trust. Interim NACI approved to start.  US Citizenship is required to obtain facility credentials and Public Trust Clearance.
- Travel: As required in support of task order.

Preferred Qualifications :

- UH60M recent experience is preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

- Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.
- Basic knowledge of electrical theory and a thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
- Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.
- Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects and is required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.
- Participate in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.
- Possess the level of experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by Mechanics.
- The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

- Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 pounds.
- Occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds.
- Must be immediately deployable to potential combat areas worldwide.
