Description
This role will be on the Performance Consulting team in Knowledge and Development Solutions (KDS). Performance Consultant serves as a strategic partner to business leaders, helping identify, assess, and solve performance challenges that impact business results. This role works across a portfolio of business partners to diagnose needs, align solutions to organizational priorities, and drive initiatives from intake through implementation and measurement.
The Performance Consultant applies performance consulting principles to uncover root causes, recommend the right interventions, and ensure solutions create measurable business impact. Acting as a trusted advisor, the consultant collaborates with leaders, subject matter experts, and delivery partners to translate business strategy into capability-building initiatives that improve performance, accelerate organizational goals, and support long-term business outcomes.

Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with business leaders and stakeholders to understand strategic priorities, identify performance opportunities, and serve as a trusted advisor on performance improvement strategies.
- Independently lead discovery, consultation, and analysis efforts to diagnose business challenges, identify root causes, and determine the most effective solutions to address performance needs
- Translate business objectives into actionable recommendations, leveraging the right mix of learning, coaching, communications, knowledge management, process improvement, and other performance enablement strategies when appropriate.
- Guide work through the intake, prioritization, and planning process, ensuring initiatives are aligned to business priorities, resource capacity, and expected outcomes.
- Provide oversight for assigned initiatives by coordinating stakeholders, establishing governance, managing risks and dependencies, and evaluating progress toward agreed-upon objectives.
- Partner with business leaders, subject matter experts, and delivery teams to prepare organizations for implementation and ensure solutions are launched effectively.
- Define success measures and evaluate outcomes to assess effectiveness, demonstrate business value, and inform future performance improvement efforts.
- Identify and communicate portfolio-level trends, risks, opportunities, and emerging business needs to help inform strategic decision-making and future investment priorities.
- Creates business documents for various presentations and meetings, especially for leadership.
- Works collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders early and often, seeking constructive feedback and actively driving decision making.
Experience You Will Need:
- Experience partnering directly with senior business leaders and decision-makers to identify performance challenges, identify root causes, and recommend meaningful solutions.
- Experience problem solving and facilitating discovery conversations, gathering stakeholder requirements, and translating business needs into actionable recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to use data and business performance metrics to inform recommendations and assess solution effectiveness.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to assess competing priorities, risks, dependencies, and organizational impacts.
- Proven ability to influence without authority and drive alignment among leaders, subject matter experts, and cross-functional partners.
- Experience presenting recommendations, project updates, and business cases to senior leadership audiences.
- Experience managing a portfolio of work while balancing strategic initiatives, operational priorities, and changing business demands.
- Strong relationship-building skills with a demonstrated ability to establish credibility and trust across multiple levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Small Commercial experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in organizational effectiveness, change management, learning strategy, or business process improvement.
- Experience working in a matrixed environment with accountability for influencing outcomes across multiple stakeholder groups.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (preferably within Organizational Development, Training, Business or a related field) or equivalent experience required.
- Advanced degree preferred.
- In addition, requires 7-10 years of related business experience to include 3-5 years of combined instructional design, performance coaching or program management experience.
- Prior management experience within a large insurance or financial services company strongly preferred.
- Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, to include advanced presentation/facilitation skills.
- Demonstrates strong project management skills.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.
