First Choice is seeking a Medical Office Assistant to join our busy and collaborative team in Amherst, NY. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment, and takes pride in keeping operations running smoothly.
As a Medical Office Assistant, you'll play a key role in creating a positive experience for patients by supporting front desk operations, preparing exam rooms, and assisting with patient flow throughout the clinic. While this position involves some clinical support duties, it does not include hands-on medical assisting or direct patient care procedures.

Schedule:
Monday through Friday, typically 8:00am-4:30pm EST. Start and end times may vary depending on physician schedules. Candidates must have the flexibility to remain until the final patient appointment is completed, which may occasionally extend to 5:00pm or 6:00pm.

Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients and direct them to the appropriate examination room
- Review charts and verify patient information is available for the examining physician
- Obtain and record basic vital signs as needed
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure they remain clean, stocked, and ready for use
- Serve as a chaperone during examinations when requested by the physician
- Assist with patient check-in and other front desk responsibilities
- Help maintain an efficient patient flow to keep appointments on schedule
- Protect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality of medical records
- Report facility or equipment concerns to management
- Perform administrative duties, including filing, typing, emailing, and document review
- Support inventory and efficient use of clinic resources and supplies
- Participate in required training and educational programs
- Complete additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- A minimum of six months on the job experience in a medical office or related field preferred.
- Must have adequate knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, medications and laboratory values.
- Must possess knowledge of general computer, fax, copier, scanner, and telephone.
- Must be knowledgeable of multiple software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and the Internet.
- Ability to follow instructions and respond to managements directions accurately.
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. Looks for ways to improve and promote quality and monitors own work to ensure quality is met.
- Must demonstrate exceptional communication skills by conveying necessary information accurately, listening effectively and asking questions where clarification is needed.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, prioritize work activities and use time efficiently.
