What You'll Do
- Design and lead implementation of Layer 1 network infrastructure, including cabling layouts, MDF/IDF buildouts, pathway design, and physical topology
- Coordinate and oversee network construction activities, including cabling, rack/stack, and hardware installation at new and existing sites
- Ensure remote locations have reliable, standards-compliant network infrastructure to support production equipment, OT systems, and business connectivity
- Manage and oversee third-party contractors and vendors, ensuring work is completed to CMC standards, on time, and within budget
- Manage the procurement process for network equipment, including obtaining quotes, coordinating purchases, and receiving and verifying delivered materials
- Partner with appropriate teams to translate designs into field-ready implementation plans while retaining ownership of execution in the field
- Perform site assessments to validate power, space, pathways, mounting locations, and environmental requirements
- Configure, deploy, and validate network equipment (switching, routing, wireless, and edge connectivity) across multiple platforms (including but not limited to Meraki and Cisco)
- Support installation, turn-up, and validation of network connectivity for both IT and OT environments
- Troubleshoot and resolve physical layer and network connectivity issues during deployments and post-cutover
- Maintain accurate documentation, diagrams, installation records, and test results
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and plant operational requirements in industrial environments
- Act as liaison between Business, OT, and IT teams
- Take on additional responsibilities and tasks as directed by management to support the overall goals and objectives of the organization
What You'll Need
- 3–7+ years of experience in network infrastructure deployment, construction, or field engineering
- Strong understanding of network fundamentals (Layer 1–3)
- Proven experience designing and implementing Layer 1 infrastructure (cabling, fiber, pathways, rack layouts)
- Experience configuring and deploying network equipment across multi-vendor environments (e.g., Meraki, Cisco, and similar platforms)
- Ability to read and interpret network diagrams, construction drawings, and site plans
- Experience managing vendors, contractors, and project timelines
- Exposure to industrial/OT environments is highly preferred
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently in the field
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence and professionalism to interact effectively with business personnel and leaders at multiple levels of the organization
- Up to 35% travel to CMC locations for site assessments, deployments, and project support
- Ability to lift and carry networking equipment (up to ~50 lbs)
- Ability to run/terminate cabling, rack equipment, and work in industrial environments
- Comfortable working at heights (ladders/lifts) and in active plant environments
Your Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
