Our research is uncovering fundamental principles of the nervous system--how brain circuits give rise to behavior and thought, how the nervous system develops across the lifetime, and how brain function is disrupted by neurological disease and mental illness.
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Research Analyst to join our neurobiology lab focused on high-resolution connectomics and advanced microscopy. Our research utilizes high-throughput serial electron microscopy and novel structural imaging techniques to map complex neural circuits and investigate brain ultrastructure. The successful candidate will support day-to-day operations, execute complex tissue preparation protocols, and assist with large-scale data acquisition on high-value imaging instrumentation.

Responsibilities

- Utilize different microscopy techniques including confocal light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy of mammalian nervous tissue.
- Participate in regular 1 on 1 meetings, group presentations as well as opportunities to present work at national scientific conference.

- Provides technical and administrative support for a research project.

- Collects and enters data. Assists in analyzing data. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.

- Assists with the installation, sets up and performs experiments; interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.

- Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.

- Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.

- Installs, sets up and performs experiments; interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.

- Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
Work Experience:
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

- BS in related field.

Experience:

- Work experience in related field.

Preferred Competencies

- Essential technical skills include animal perfusions, immunofluorescence labeling, cryosectioning, and sample preparation for electron microscopy.

- Proficiency in R and other related software for image analysis.

- Writing and presentation proficiency also desired.
