## Credit Analyst

Job Purpose

To evaluate and prepare comprehensive credit applications by conducting financial and risk assessments, gathering, and analysing relevant client information, and formulating sound credit recommendations. The role is responsible for ensuring that all credit applications are prepared accurately, thoroughly, and in compliance with the Bank's credit policies, procedures, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements, thereby supporting informed credit decision-making while maintaining the quality of the lending portfolio.

Job Responsibilities

- Interpret Financial results based on the annual financial statements or models provided by analysing and extracting the relevant information for the internal rating process.

- Interact with the front office with regards to the transaction structure to determine the relevant rating models to be applied and provide input with regards to the potential risk mitigates.

- Advise Business Managers and provide an explanation of returns and ratings results.

- Maintain good client relationships by providing timely guidance and accurate information to stakeholders.

- Ensure consistency of information by providing a summary of inputs used for the models

- Ensure that client needs are met by facilitating communication between the model developers and the Business Managers.

- Ensure that the model used is appropriate by interacting with credit managers and front office regarding transactions.

- Liaise with other departments within Risk with regards to inputs that are required for credit ratings by providing updates and giving feedback on models.

- Support the achievement of the business strategy, objectives and values by reviewing Nedbank and Commercial Banking Plan and ensuring delivered systems, process, services and solutions are aligned.

- Suggest and promote the development of new and/or enhanced processes (e.g., operational processes) that will improve stakeholder business performance by highlighting the benefits and value of implementing recommended solutions.

- Identify training courses and career progression for self through input and feedback from management.

- Ensure all personal development plan activities are completed within specified timeframe.

- Share knowledge and industry trends with team and stakeholders during formal and informal interaction.

- Seek opportunities to improve business processes and systems by identifying and recommending effective ways to operate and adding value to Nedbank.

- Contribute to a culture conducive to the achievement of transformation goals by participating in Nedbank Culture building initiatives (e.g. staff surveys etc).

- Participate and support corporate responsibility initiatives for the achievement of business strategy (e.g. Green Strategy).

Requirements

- Minimum 3 years’ experience in credit analysis focused on assessing the creditworthiness of large corporate clients, particularly within commercial lending environments.

- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Business / Commercial Banking, with a strong track record of evaluating detailed financial statements and credit reports to determine a client’s ability to meet debt obligations in high-value, multi-entity structures.

- Experience engaging with stakeholders and managing client relationships within a commercial or business banking environment, with the ability to balance client needs, business growth objectives, and credit risk considerations

- NQF Level 6 or higher qualification in Financial Management, Accounting, Credit Risk Analysis, or a related field

- Must be prepared to travel when required
