What You Will Do:
GFT is seeking a Bridge Designer to join our Transportation Practice in Pittsburgh ! This role follows a hybrid work model.

What youll be challenged to do:
Under close supervision, performs technical evaluations, inspections, and designs for a wide variety of assignments including structural design and analysis for highway/railway bridges and related structures, bridge inspection, load ratings, and quantities. P erforms assignments of limited scope which require the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related design engineering tasks. Assignments may involve some interpretation of Design Manuals and Guidelines that will be evaluated by a senior level staff member.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Prepares details and plans in support of broader engineering activities involving the design of highway/railway bridges and related structures .
- Assists with bridge inspection activities for routine structures under direction of Inspection Team Leader.
- Assists with structural design activities for routine structures under direction of Design Team Leader.
- Gathers, calculates and records information to be used for cost estimating.
- Prepares basic specifications
- Reviews shop drawings to evaluate compliance with contract documents.
- Prepares first draft of technical reports or sections of larger reports.
- Utilizes CADD to develop construction plans which may include 3D models.
- Works as part of a project team within the bridge discipline.
- Follows project delivery and quality control procedures and standards in compliance with client and company specific guidelines on time and within budget.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge through attendance at educational workshops and participation in professional societies.
## Education | Experience:
What you will bring to our firm:
- BS in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Fundamentals of Engineering has been taken and passed, preferred
- 0 to 4 years of experience
- Experience with CADD required
What we prefer you bring:
- Working knowledge of Design Software
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Possesses strong oral and written communications skills
Compensation: The salary range for this role is $70,000 - $80,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location. Featured Benefits: Hybrid (in-person and remote) work environment.
