Position Overview:
The Inside Loan Officer is responsible for managing inbound customer inquiries and system-assigned leads, guiding prospective borrowers through the mortgage origination process from initial contact through closing. This role assesses customer financing needs, presents appropriate mortgage solutions, and delivers professional, compliant service throughout the customer experience. The Inside Loan Officer develops and maintains a pipeline of loan opportunities through lead conversion, customer follow-up, and ongoing relationship management to support production goals.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and respond to company provided inbound customer leads received through phone inquiries and system-assigned referrals, providing timely and professional service.
- Engage with prospective customers by building rapport, assessing financing needs, and presenting appropriate mortgage solutions.
- Conduct clear, compliant, and effective mortgage-related conversations with prospective borrowers throughout the loan origination process.
- Analyze mortgage products, rates, and program options to identify appropriate financing solutions for borrowers.
- Guide customers through the mortgage application process, including collecting information, reviewing documentation requirements, and setting expectations.
- Execute consistent outreach, follow-up, and customer engagement activities to support lead conversion and loan production goals with the assistance of the Operations Team.
- Maintain and grow an active loan pipeline by following up with leads, coordinating next steps, and advancing loan applications toward closing.
- Utilize mortgage origination systems, CRM platforms, and other business applications to manage customer interactions and pipeline activity.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of mortgage products, programs, guidelines, and market trends.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, CCM, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in the mortgage industry.
- Current SAFE Act mortgage loan originator licensure, or eligibility to obtain and maintain licensure, in designated states, including NY, NJ, FL, NC, SC, GA, TX, AZ, CA, PA, MA, VA, CT, TN, IL, and OH.
- Experience evaluating borrower financial information, including income, assets, credit, and related loan documentation.
- Experience converting inbound leads and customer inquiries into mortgage application opportunities, preferred.
- Knowledge of retail mortgage products, underwriting guidelines, policies, procedures, documentation, and systems.
- Excellent sales, negotiation, and customer service skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Skilled in initiating and leading phone‑based sales conversations with prospective clients.
