POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a temporary assignment designed to support operational requirements during a period of increased business demand.

The Test Engineer II is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of hardware and software solutions for engineering test systems that support product development activities. This role develops and executes comprehensive test plans to validate product performance against design requirements, collaborating closely with design engineers throughout all phases of the product development lifecycle.

The successful candidate will create innovative test solutions that are closely aligned with product architectures and Advanced Energy's test platforms, enabling efficient product verification and validation. Through extensive interaction with cross-functional engineering teams and exposure to product design methodologies, this position offers a unique opportunity to build the technical expertise needed for advancement into senior and principal-level engineering roles.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Design, develop, and maintain software applications used for the calibration, testing, and validation of Advanced Energy products.

- Integrate, configure, and automate electronic test and measurement equipment to support product development and manufacturing operations.

- Develop and manage project schedules, deliverables, and implementation plans for test software, instrumentation, fixtures, and test system integration activities.

- Create comprehensive verification and validation plans based on product specifications, system requirements, and engineering standards.

- Execute test and validation activities, analyze results, troubleshoot issues, and provide clear technical documentation and reports.

- Support the deployment of test and calibration systems into production environments and provide training and technical guidance to manufacturing and engineering personnel.

- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Operations, throughout the product development lifecycle.

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance test system reliability, efficiency, and scalability.

- Travel as needed to support system implementation, training, and project requirements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

- Location: Vancouver, WA

- Environment: manufacturing environment which may be noisy and fast paced. Many tasks are repetitive in motion and include the use of electronic assembly equipment

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Two to five years of experience developing test, calibration, data acquisition, automation, or system validation software in an engineering or manufacturing environment.

- Experience developing test and calibration software using C#/.NET and LabVIEW.

- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new programming languages, development environments, tools, and technologies.

- Basic knowledge of SQL database design and user interface/front-end development.

- Working knowledge of thermal and optical sensors, signal conditioning techniques, and measurement principles.

- Experience developing and executing system verification and validation plans.

- Working knowledge of analog and digital electronics.

- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, instrumentation, and communication issues.

- Familiarity with industrial and test-equipment communication protocols, including SCPI, Modbus TCP/RTU, RS-232, TCP/IP, and vendor-specific interfaces.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional engineering teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience designing and maintaining normalized databases, including constraints, indexes, views, and stored procedures.

- Knowledge of intermediate to advanced LabVIEW architectures, design patterns, and software development best practices.

- Experience maintaining, enhancing, or modernizing legacy test, calibration, or engineering applications.

- Familiarity with source control systems, issue tracking tools, code review processes, and configuration management practices.

- Experience with printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) design, including schematic capture, prototyping, hardware bring-up, testing, and troubleshooting.

EDUCATION:

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

COMPENSATION:

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.

This is a temporary position employed and paid through a staffing agency. The anticipated pay range for this role is $40.00 to $48.00 per hour .
