Overview

The Department of Global Pediatric Medicine (GPM) is a growing department looking for professionals who are eager to help implement the St. Jude Global (SJG) mission by training the clinical workforce, developing and strengthening health systems and patient-centered initiatives, and advancing knowledge to sustain continuous improvement through research.

Responsibilities

The Sr Communication Program Specialist will be responsible for:

- Develop and execute communication needs and plans for stakeholder teams and leadership.
- Develop comprehensive communication strategies for major departmental and organizational initiatives.
- Leverage a creative and compelling array of communications including presentations, email, newsletters, announcements, information sheets, application brochures, articles and videos.
- Recommend methods of communication to ensure all relevant information is appropriately conveyed to identified populations.
- Serve as a communication expert for the key stakeholder departments and other areas of the institution, offering guidance on style, branding, visual layout, wording and methods of communication.
- Work with external vendors to support projects and monitor progress to ensure the institution's needs are supported.
- Evaluate new media to produce innovative, effective internal campaigns.
- Keep track of the project activities and ensure alignment with the quality guidelines project timelines and objectives.
- Provide guidance, assistance, and mentoring support to less experienced colleagues on routine processes and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

- Leverages knowledge of project management tools and methodologies to manage tactical programs, communicate with critical cross-functional teams, manage resources & conflicts and drive accountability.
- Defines scope and milestones clearly with a clear understanding of institutional priorities, overall program objectives and forecasting future requirements.
- Has working knowledge of project management and planning tools.
- Is able to effectively sequence and prioritize tasks within projects and create project reports with limited guidance.
- Understands and tracks dependencies, risks, and schedules and escalates in case of issues.
- Has a basic understanding of organization structures, institutional goals, team objectives and how different functions and groups operate.
- Keenly follows the healthcare industry and stays abreast of macro changes.
- Is aware of how to manage costs based on guidelines received.
- Demonstrates the ability to engage the audience by leveraging effective messaging and storytelling approaches.
- Ability to effectively manage and safeguard the brand's reputation by consistently representing the brand's values across various channels and touchpoints including customers, employees, and partners.

Minimum Education

- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English or related field required.
- Master's degree OR PhD preferred.

Minimum Experience:

- Minimum Requirement: 4+ years of experience in communications, journalism, English or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in business communications, journalism, PR, and communications in life sciences or healthcare environment.
- Proficiency in software programs such as Captivate, Photoshop, Illustrator, and other tools used to create communication materials.
- Some experience stakeholder management preferred.
- Proven performance in earlier role.

Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $70,720 - $126,880 per year for the role of Senior Communications Program Specialist, Global Pediatric Medicine.
