Position Summary:

The Department of Chemistry at Colorado State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Experimental Physical Chemistry at the Assistant Professor level. Applicants whose research complements and strengthens research themes in the Department of Chemistry and across the Colorado State University research enterprise are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to chemistry education excellence in the Department, including teaching physical chemistry courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The Department of Chemistry at Colorado State University comprises approximately 30 tenure-track and tenured faculty and more than 180 graduate students, with research spanning analytical, biological, inorganic, materials, organic, and physical chemistry. Faculty and students participate in interdisciplinary research across the University, and the Department has a strong tradition of undergraduate participation in research. Research is supported by the Analytical Resources Core, which provides extensive shared instrumentation and 24/7 access for trained users. Essential Job Duties:

- Develop and maintain an independent, externally funded research program in experimental physical chemistry.
- Disseminate research findings through peer-reviewed publications and presentations.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in chemistry.
- Mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students in research.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university service and contribute to the academic mission of the Department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision:

- This position does not have any direct reports.

Conditions of Employment:

- Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for all new hires).

Minimum Qualifications:

- Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field.
- Evidence of research productivity or strong potential to establish a sustainable scholarly program (e.g., publications, presentations, grant activity).
- Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Record of research accomplishments in experimental physical chemistry.
- Postdoctoral research experience or equivalent professional research experience.

- Ability to contribute in the areas of teaching and mentoring.

- Potential to establish an impactful, externally funded research program.
