Print Marketing Director
Maternity Cover
November 2026 – August 2027
We are looking for an experienced Print Marketing Director to join our in-house creative studio and lead Language Abroad’s annual, multi-market offline marketing programme during a period of maternity cover from November 2026 – end of August 2027.
In this role, you will own the direction, prioritisation, budget, resourcing and successful delivery of offline projects for Language Abroad, EF’s language and cultural immersion programs.
Managing a team of up to 10, and working with creative teams, global markets, stakeholders and suppliers, you will ensure that work is delivered to the required standard, budget and critical deadlines. Projects include, but are not limited to: brochures, flyers, magazines, supplementary materials, OOH as well as adhoc offline requests for 45 global markets.
A key part of the role will be to spearhead a new, AI-enabled process for content production for a more structured and automated workflow.
Your Key responsibilities will include:
Print programme leadership: Lead the annual print cycle from planning and scope-setting through to production, delivery and season close.
- Set priorities, scope, ambition and quality standards across brochures/magazines and other print materials.
- Lead the integrated project plan, key milestones and critical production dates.
- Lead decisions when timing, cost, quality and stakeholder expectations conflict.
Market and stakeholder management: Act as the senior point of contact for markets, Country Managers, Product Heads, leadership and other stakeholders.
- Set clear expectations around deadlines, localisation, approvals and content changes.
- Lead stakeholder reviews of content and resolve conflicting requirements or escalations.
- Lead trainings for markets on the requirements to participate in the production process, coordinate orders, stock levels, global launch dates, software/tools training, and ensure local market teams understand production constraints.
Budget, suppliers and production oversight: Own the print marketing budget and handle significant production and supplier decisions.
- Lead the overall printer and supplier strategy in partnership with the Print Production Manager.
- Manage contracts, quotes, paper orders, volumes, production schedules, deliveries, customs processes and delivery risks.
- Ensure production starts to time with content, creative, technical and commercial requirements finalised.
- Protect key timing windows and lead recovery plans when delivery is at risk.
People and Team Management: Lead recruitment and onboarding of freelancers/temporary staff.
- Manage a team of up to 10, allocating capacity across projects and requests.
- Identify and resolve resource risks across copywriting, design, photography, editorial and production.
- Own the programme-level risk position, particularly around localisation, amends, printer capacity, paper availability, missing approvals and staffing.
AI & Automation oversight: Spearhead the design and implementation of a new print material content-production process using AI, structured content and automation.
- Work with editorial, creative, production and relevant technical partners to define templates, content fields, data structures, prompts, rules and approval stages.
- Identify opportunities to automate content drafting, adaptation, versioning, localisation and the flow of approved text into brochure layouts.
- Establish quality-control, version-control and approval processes to ensure that AI-assisted content is accurate, on-brand and aligned with product information.
- Train and support copywriters, designers and other team members in the new workflow, including how to build and maintain files correctly for automated content flow.
- Lead adoption of the process and ensure it improves efficiency without compromising editorial quality, creativity or accountability.
Quality Assurance: Own the final quality sign off for print materials across editorial, creative, product and technical standards.
- Manage final approvals and sign off at key stages throughout the project from stakeholders, and markets all the way to printer softproofs and okay-to-print.
- Press-pass at printers across productions.
What we’re looking for:
- 8+ years’ experience leading complex print marketing, publishing, editorial or creative production programmes, navigating multi-market environments.
- Extensive experience managing brochures, catalogues, magazines, annual reports, or similar high-volume print materials from scope through to delivery, in education/travel/retail/publishing.
- Experience managing budgets, suppliers, production deadlines and competing stakeholder priorities.
- Experience managing editorial workflows, substantial localization, approvals, version control, print production and supplier relations.
- Experience leading teams, planning capacity and managing temporary or project-based resource.
- Experience introducing AI, automation, structured content or data-driven publishing workflows; experience connecting content to layouts or InDesign automation would be highly valuable.
- Ability to translate a new process into clear standards, training and practical team adoption.
- Confident negotiating with senior stakeholders, markets and suppliers.
- Calm, decisive and commercially aware, with strong judgement under pressure.
