Job Title: Safety Specialist Pay: $74,000-100,000 DOE Job Description The Safety Specialist supports a robust safety culture by providing both administrative and technical guidance to leadership and employees in a manufacturing environment. This role ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, leads safety training and initiatives, and serves as a key resource for incident response and continuous improvement in workplace safety and wellness. Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and technical safety advice to management and employees to support informed decision-making and safe work practices.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local safety and health laws and regulations, including OSHA, NFPA, and Workers Compensation requirements.
- Review, update, and clearly communicate safety procedures, policies, and guidelines to all relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinate, develop, and facilitate engaging safety training for a wide range of audiences to promote strong safety awareness.
- Execute the tactical strategy of the companys Safety Program, aligning day-to-day activities with broader safety objectives.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data from job hazard analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct thorough incident and accident investigations, documenting findings and reporting safety trends to management.
- Serve as a key stakeholder and active participant in Department Safety Committees, providing insight and recommendations.
- Manage safety incentive programs designed to reinforce safe behaviors and recognize positive performance.
- Serve as the Safety Officer during emergency situations, providing calm, coordinated, and effective response leadership.
- Make recommendations to management regarding disciplinary actions related to safety violations to support a culture of accountability.
- Promote wellness and positive behaviors through a meaningful recognition program that supports overall employee well-being.
- Collaborate closely with key stakeholders across the business to gain buy-in and support for safety programs and initiatives.
- Maintain organized documentation, manage multiple projects, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and safety program milestones.
Essential Skills
- Bachelors degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety & Health, or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.
- At least 2 years of job-related experience in safety, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of Federal, State, and local safety and health laws, including OSHA, NFPA, and Workers Compensation regulations.
- Experience with safety and health regulations, regulatory agency interaction processes, and incident response.
- Current OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications.
- Fluency in Spanish and English, with the ability to speak, read, and write Spanish fluently.
- Ability to communicate effectively and facilitate training for diverse audiences at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to partner collaboratively with key stakeholders and influence without formal authority.
- Strong decision-making skills and sound judgment in routine and high-pressure situations.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and the ability to conduct thorough, high-quality investigations.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a focus on proactive, practical solutions.
- Ability to remain calm and collected in potentially high-pressure or emergency situations.
- Customer service-focused mindset with the ability to understand the business and tailor safety approaches accordingly.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Availability and flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed to support safety operations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing industry environment, particularly food and beverage production, is beneficial.
- Prior experience delivering safety training programs and managing incident management processes.
- Experience participating in or leading Department Safety Committees.
- Ability to design and manage safety incentive and recognition programs.
- Comfort working in a bilingual environment and supporting a diverse workforce.
- Interest in growing into a safety leadership or management role as the organization continues to expand.
- Familiarity with using job hazard analysis tools and techniques to identify and mitigate risks.
Work Environment This position operates in a manufacturing and office environment and is fully onsite. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with flexibility required to support nights and weekends as needed. The role involves regular presence on the production floor, where employees may encounter typical manufacturing conditions such as machinery, noise, and varying temperatures. The Safety Specialist uses standard office technologies, including Microsoft Office and SharePoint, as well as safety-related systems and tools to manage documentation, training, and incident reporting. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $100000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
