Job Title: Quality Technician Job Description
The Quality Technician provides hands-on quality assurance support within a fast-paced, regulated manufacturing environment. This role involves inspecting components and raw materials, collecting samples, reviewing batch documentation, and ensuring that production activities adhere to approved procedures and quality standards. The technician will primarily operate on the manufacturing floor and in material sampling areas, ensuring compliance with quality requirements and supporting manufacturing and packaging operations.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and sample incoming raw materials, components, and finished products.
- Perform incoming inspections and verify materials meet applicable requirements.
- Collect samples from manufacturing and packaging operations.
- Label, document, retain, and submit samples according to established procedures.
- Review batch records and verify the correct components and materials are used.
- Confirm lot numbers, expiration dates, materials, and other critical production information.
- Support manufacturing-line and packaging-line quality activities.
- Identify documentation errors, component discrepancies, or quality concerns before they affect production.
- Follow current Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Documentation Practices, data-integrity requirements, and approved SOPs.
- Complete quality records accurately and contemporaneously.
- Prioritize raw-material and component activities to help prevent manufacturing delays.
- Adjust daily priorities based on changing production and business needs.
- After training, approve packaging orders and production orders.
- Use electronic quality, manufacturing, or ERP systems to document activities.
- Prepare Excel spreadsheets, written documents, and memos as needed.
- Wear required personal protective equipment in warehouse, production, and sampling environments.
- Participate in company-provided fit testing for a full-face respirator.
- Lift or move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Maintain flexibility to support nearby company facilities when business needs require.
- Transport samples to an external testing laboratory using a personal vehicle; mileage reimbursement is provided.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 1 year of QA/quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of cGMP, Good Documentation Practices, SOPs, and data integrity.
- Experience verifying lot numbers, expiration dates, components, and batch records with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience collecting raw material, component, and/or finished product samples.
- Ability to work with urgency, manage competing priorities, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Excel and Word; ability to create documents and memos.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associates or Bachelors degree in a scientific discipline preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
- Experience with MasterControl or other electronic QMS preferred.
- Experience with SAP, Sage, or similar ERP systems preferred.
- Experience with electronic batch records/documentation preferred.
- Pharmaceutical, medical device, or other regulated manufacturing experience preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and complete full-face respirator fit testing.
- Reliable personal transportation required for sample delivery; mileage reimbursed.
Work Environment
This is a fully on-site position in a fast-paced, regulated manufacturing environment. The Quality Technician will work across production lines, packaging and filling lines, warehouse areas, component-inspection areas, and a dedicated raw-material sampling room. The technician will regularly interact with raw materials, manufacturing components, finished products, batch records, lot numbers, and expiration-dated materials. Work requires frequent movement between different operational areas and the ability to reprioritize tasks based on manufacturing needs. Required PPE must be worn in designated areas, and certain materials require the use of a full-face respirator. The company will coordinate the required respirator fit testing internally. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. The primary work location is the Mount Prospect facility, with possible support at nearby company facilities, including Glenview, based on business needs and cross-training. Interviews will take place at the Mount Prospect Building 1200 location and will include a facility tour. The position operates on the first shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Prospect, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
