Job Title: Outpatient Pharmacy Technician - Tier III Job Description
This position provides technical support to pharmacists by preparing unit doses, handling data entry, delivering medications, and managing cartfill exchanges. The role requires accountability and accuracy in adherence to standard operating procedures while working under the supervision of a Pharmacist responsible for the safe distribution and use of drugs for patients of all ages.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, mix, and compound sterile medications, including chemotherapy, following aseptic procedures.
- Perform pharmaceutical calculations to verify medication dosages.
- Clean and maintain engineering controls and equipment for compounding sterile medications.
- Assist pharmacists by entering orders, filling unit dose medications, and maintaining medication profiles.
- Load and refill medications into automated dispensing cabinet stations.
- Maintain manufacturing logs to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Prioritize new order labels to ensure timely delivery to designated locations.
Essential Skills
- State of Oregon Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT)
- PTCB National Pharmacy Technician Certification
- 1-3 years of Pharmacy Technician experience
- Ability to read and understand medical-related terms
- Skill in pharmaceutical mathematics calculations
- Strong communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Team-player with strong problem-solving abilities
- Experience in de-escalating situations with upset patients/customers
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to manipulate small objects such as needles and syringes
- Knowledge and application of aseptic technique
- Ability to establish priorities in workflow
- Strong time-management and multi-tasking skills
Work Environment
The position is located at the Outpatient Pharmacy in Portland, OR, working Monday through Friday with some weekends required. The workday starts at 9:00 AM and ends at 5:30 PM. The initial assignment length is 13 weeks, with a high likelihood of extension and potential for permanent employment. The pharmacy offers a collaborative team atmosphere where employees feel valued and heard.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $29.07 - $39.33/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
