Job Title: Environmental Technician Job Description
The Environmental Technician safely consolidates, treats, stores, packs, transports, and disposes of hazardous waste in accordance with environmentally responsible and compliant practices, policies, and procedures. This role supports industrial cleaning, wastewater treatment, spill response, and facility services while maintaining detailed and accurate records and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Consolidate, treat, store, pack, transport, and dispose of hazardous waste in compliance with all applicable environmental regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Perform industrial cleaning tasks, including pressure washing, to support safe and clean facility operations.
- Assist with wastewater treatment activities as directed to ensure proper handling and processing of materials.
- Participate in spill response activities, following established protocols to contain, clean, and dispose of hazardous materials safely.
- Provide general facility services and site cleanup, including yard work and general labor tasks as needed.
- Complete all required documentation accurately, legibly, and on time in accordance with applicable regulations and customer policies, practices, and procedures.
- Operate equipment safely and efficiently, following all safety guidelines and instructions.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records related to hazardous materials handling, waste management, and site activities.
- Wear and properly use company-issued personal protective equipment at all times when required, including safety glasses, hard hat, steel-toed shoes, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator.
- Work outdoors in all climate and seasonal conditions, as well as indoors in non-climate-controlled environments, while performing assigned duties.
- Respond to direction from leadership and perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management to support operations.
- Contribute to a culture of safety, compliance, and environmental responsibility through daily work practices.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of prior experience working with hazardous materials.
- High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.
- Experience performing general labor and site cleanup tasks in an industrial or environmental setting.
- Ability and willingness to work outside in seasonal elements, including varying weather conditions.
- Comfort operating equipment used in industrial cleaning, site cleanup, and environmental services.
- Visual acuity sufficient to read labels and documentation and depth perception to work safely around equipment and vehicles.
- Ability to hear vehicle warning chimes and alarms to maintain safety on site.
- Willingness and ability to wear company-issued personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hard hat, steel-toed shoes, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator.
- Ability to complete documentation accurately, timely, and legibly in accordance with regulations and customer policies.
- Capability to work both outdoors in all climate conditions and indoors in non-climate-controlled environments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- HAZWOPER certification is a plus.
- Experience in the environmental field, including hazardous waste handling, spill response, or wastewater treatment, is beneficial.
- Comfort working in industrial cleaning operations, including pressure washing and facility services.
- Ability to perform yard work and other general labor tasks as needed.
- Interest in long-term career growth within an environmental services role, with opportunities to advance into operations and leadership positions.
Work Environment
This role is primarily outdoors and requires working in all seasonal elements, including rain, heat, cold, and varying weather conditions. You will also work indoors in non-climate-controlled areas as needed. The schedule currently runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the possibility of shifting to 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and eventually to a night shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Environmental Technicians use industrial cleaning equipment such as pressure washers and other tools associated with wastewater treatment, spill response, and facility services. The position requires consistent use of personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hard hat, steel-toed shoes, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator, in accordance with safety and regulatory standards. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kent, WA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.25 - $23.25/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
