About this role

The Stamping Controls team partners closely with manufacturing engineers to deliver controls, electrical, and automation solutions for new and existing production line equipment at Giga Texas. We serve as the technical bridge between engineering and factory operations — driving continuous improvement, standardization, and knowledge sharing across manufacturing lines from initial design through structured handover to sustaining teams.

This is a hands-on role with active shop floor presence, focused on end-to-end project execution: from controls architecture and commissioning to ramping equipment to rate. If you thrive in fast-paced, high-impact environments and want to shape the future of humanoid robot manufacturing, this is the opportunity for you.

- Design and develop PLC, HMI, and SCADA automation solutions for stamping metal forming lines, including integration of robotics, sensors, and vision systems
- Architect, develop, and debug structured, maintainable, and reusable PLC code interfacing with conveyors, robots, MES, MFS/FX, and third-party equipment
- Design NFPA 79 / NEC / UL 508A compliant electrical control panels and create electrical, pneumatic, and fluid schematics
- Implement control-reliable safety systems compliant with ANSI/RIA 15.06 and OSHA standards for robots, gantries, and conveyors
- Commission and start up new equipment on the production floor, troubleshoot automation issues, and perform root-cause analysis to minimize downtime
- Manage supplier relationships during specification, design review, and buy-off; establish and execute test plans at vendor sites and Tesla facilities
- Travel domestically to vendor sites and for equipment installation and commissioning, as needed

- 5+ years of experience in automation engineering in high-volume manufacturing environments (automotive stamping or metal forming preferred)
- Proficiency in PLC programming using IEC 61131-3 with Rockwell, Siemens, or Beckhoff platforms, including safety and standard interlock communications
- Experience with industrial communication protocols: Profinet, EtherCAT, and EtherNet/IP
- Experience designing and validating electrical control panels, including component selection, sizing, and electrical drawing comprehension
- Exposure to robot programming (online and offline) with Fanuc or Kuka platforms
- Experience with MES/SCADA integration using Ignition and machine vision systems for positioning or quality applications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or equivalent experience
