The Apple Hardware Engineering R&D team in Japan is seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated students for a technical internship focused on ultra-precision injection molding. Our team drives the performance of next-generation optical components by advancing lens manufacturing processes and developing cutting-edge optical elements.

Projects and assignments will be tailored to each intern’s technical background, strengths, and research interests.

Responsibilities may include:

• Fabricating precision test samples using state-of-the-art ultra-precision injection molding systems.
• Evaluating surface finish and dimensional accuracy using high-precision 3D optical profilers and metrology tools.
• Analyzing process data to optimize molding parameters and develop novel process capabilities.
• Proposing and validating innovative concepts to advance current optical component manufacturing processes.

Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated interest in ultra-precision injection molding and precision manufacturing technologies.
Strong academic track record in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Optical Engineering, or a related field.
Hands-on experience with precision/ultra-precision injection molding machines, tooling, or related laboratory equipment.
Ability to independently design, plan, and execute experimental trials with a creative problem-solving mindset.
Fluency in both Japanese and English, with excellent verbal, written, and technical presentation skills.
Work authorization for Japan.
