Danat Al Emarat is a world-class specialty women’s and children’s hospital in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It offers advanced medical services across specialties including Neonatology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Women’s Health. The hospital is one of the very few to encompass a dedicated Fetal Medicine Department along with a full-fledged Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the UAE. This has established Danat Al Emarat as a regional referral center for women with high-risk pregnancies, supported by its Level III NICU providing care for the most fragile newborns.
The In-patient Pharmacist is responsible for providing safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing of medications to all ambulatory patients while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies. The role supports high-volume In-tpatient operations and contributes to medication safety and quality improvement initiatives within the department.
Responsibilities
- Review and verify inpatient medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, dose, interactions, allergies, and duplications.
- Dispense and supply medications safely and accurately to inpatient units.
- Clarify medication-related issues with physicians and nurses and provide pharmaceutical recommendations when required.
- Support medication reconciliation and safe transitions of care.
- Ensure appropriate handling of high-alert medications, LASA medications, controlled medications, and concentrated electrolytes.
- Support emergency medication requirements, crash carts, antidotes, and floor-stock management.
- Monitor medication storage, expiry, inventory, and availability within the IP Pharmacy.
- Document pharmaceutical interventions, medication incidents, and other required clinical activities.
- Participate in medication safety, quality improvement, audits, and departmental initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with DOH requirements, hospital policies, and applicable accreditation standards.
Qualifications
- Valid DOH/DHA/MOH Pharmacist license.
- Hospital/inpatient pharmacy experience preferred.
