The Role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join NEXT’s Commercial Finance team as a Finance Business Partner, dedicated to supporting our Technology Development functions.
Working closely with senior Technology leaders, including Divisional Directors, you’ll play a key role in driving financial performance, strengthening cost control and maximising the return on our technology investments.
You’ll provide commercial insight across the full lifecycle of Technology Development spend, from budgeting and forecasting through to project accounting, financial reporting and the implications of capitalisation.
With a broad mix of FP&A, commercial analysis and senior stakeholder management, this is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional looking to broaden their experience and take the next step towards Finance Manager and beyond.
What You Will Take On
- Business partnering – Build strong relationships with senior Technology leaders, providing financial guidance, challenge and support to help drive business performance and informed decision-making.
- Cost control – Work closely with Finance and Technology teams to regularly review expenditure, provide constructive challenge and help stakeholders understand the financial impact of their decisions.
- Budgeting and planning – Support our twice-yearly budgeting process, working with senior Technology leaders to develop accurate, commercially meaningful budgets and forecasts.
- Commercial analysis – Provide insightful analysis to support key decisions, including contract renewals, vendor consolidation, volume consumption, licence optimisation, new investment and cost avoidance.
- Project accounting – Review the end-to-end costs of Technology Development projects, continuously tracking expenditure and comparing actual spend against original expectations.
- Expenditure consolidation – Provide a clear and consolidated view of Technology spend across Cash, Revenue and CAPEX, giving senior stakeholders a complete picture of financial performance.
- Reporting and automation – Improve the quality, accessibility and efficiency of reporting through tools such as Power BI, planning systems and automation, reducing manual activity and enabling greater self-service.
What You Will Bring
- A qualified accountant, such as ACCA or CIMA.
- Strong Excel skills and a high level of IT literacy.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial and operational information and identify the key drivers of performance.
- The ability to assimilate and make sense of large volumes of data.
- Strong commercial awareness and a logical, structured approach to problem solving.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly and confidently to non-finance stakeholders.
- The ability to build strong relationships and influence senior stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to improving processes, reporting and the way Finance supports the wider business.
