About us

The Cancer Cell Cycle Group led by Dr. Marcos Malumbres at Vall Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) is looking for a motivated Laboratory Research Technician to join our team and contribute to our basic and translational cancer research projects.

Our research lab focuses on the basic mechanisms controlling cell proliferation and differentiation, and their implications in cancer, with particular interest in identifying new therapeutic opportunities targeting critical cell cycle regulators. About the role

We are seeking a qualified and highly motivated individual with a background in Biology, Biomedicine, Biotechnology or a related life science field. The selected candidate will provide technical support to different research projects involving human samples, cell culture, biochemical and molecular biology assays and in vivo mouse models.

Responsibilities:

- Processing, handling and storage of human biological samples, including blood, saliva, nails and tumour tissue.
- Maintenance and culture of human cell lines
- Performance of basic cellular, molecular and biochemical assays
- Sample preparation and processing for downstream molecular analysis
- Participation in experiments involving mouse models, including animal handling, monitoring and experimental procedures.
- Support in the day-to-day organization and activities of the laboratory.
- Participate in internal scientific meetings and with other research lab or pharma companies

Requirements:

- FP (Formación Profesional) or Degree in Biology, Biomedicine, Biotechnology, Laboratory Sciences or a related field.
- Fluency in English, spoken and written is required
- Strong experience in handling and processing human biological samples.
- Previous experience in mammalian cell culture.
- Experience in basic molecular and biochemical techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, western Blot, preparation of DNA libraries, WES/WGS, RNAseq, single-cell RNAseq/ATACseq, methylome, CHIP or CUT & RUN, etc.
- Good organization skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Accreditation/qualification for experimentation with laboratory animals, including mice, is required.
