About this role

The Vall d´Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) Seeks a “ATMPs Process Development and Quality Technician”

Reference: 2026-066-01

Application deadline: until the position is filled

Number of vacancies: 1

Reporting to the ATMP Clean Room’s Qualified Person and working closely with the Quality and Production teams, the mission of the role will be to support the development, optimization and validation of ATMP manufacturing processes, as well as the implementation and operation of the new VHIO GMP clean room.

The successful candidate will participate in activities related to process development, characterization, quality control, GMP documentation and manufacturing operations, supporting the translation of research and preclinical processes into robust and reproducible manufacturing processes suitable for clinical-grade ATMP production.

A major focus of the position will be the development and preclinical evaluation of a single-use bioreactor for the culture and expansion of tumour-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), in collaboration with external partners. The project will involve the adaptation and evaluation of the bioreactor for T-cell and TIL expansion, comparison with conventional expansion platforms and characterization of the resulting cellular products.

The position therefore offers the opportunity to work at the interface between cell therapy process development, GMP manufacturing, quality and translational research.

Responsibilities:

- Support the implementation and start-up of the new VHIO GMP clean room, including the preparation and implementation of SOPs, protocols and manufacturing documentation.
- Participate in the development, optimization and validation of ATMP manufacturing processes, including process characterization, scale-up and aseptic process simulations.

- Perform and support cellular and analytical characterization of TILs and other cellular products, including flow cytometry, viability, phenotype and functional/potency assays.
- Analyse and interpret experimental and process data, prepare technical reports and contribute to the definition of process parameters, quality attributes and acceptance criteria.
- Support quality activities related to process development and manufacturing, including deviations, change controls, risk assessments and CAPAs.
- Ensure appropriate documentation, traceability and data integrity of development and manufacturing activities in accordance with GMP and the VHIO Quality System.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, Research, Clinical and Regulatory teams, as well as with external companies and research partners involved in technology development and transfer.
