We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of  Senior Consultant Specialist .

Principal responsibilities

- Design, develop, test and maintain production-grade software and AI-enabled applications.
- Translate lending business requirements and operational challenges into practical technology solutions.
- Work with AI engineers, software engineers, architects, product owners, data specialists and lending subject-matter experts.
- Develop reliable APIs, services, data pipelines and application components.
- Support the integration of machine learning and generative AI capabilities into lending platforms, subject to appropriate risk, security and governance controls.
- Apply software engineering best practices, including clean code, automated testing, version control, continuous integration and continuous delivery.
- Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from discovery and design through implementation, deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement.
- Ensure solutions meet applicable standards for resilience, security, privacy, model risk management and regulatory compliance.
- Investigate incidents, identify root causes and implement sustainable fixes.
- Document technical designs, operational procedures and key decisions.
- Share knowledge across locations and contribute to a collaborative engineering culture.
- Support the responsible adoption of AI by considering explainability, human oversight, data quality, bias, security and appropriate use of outputs.

Requirements

- Experience as a software engineer, developer or technology professional within WPS Lending or a closely related lending technology environment.
- Good understanding of lending products, processes, platforms or customer journeys.
- Strong programming experience in Java and/or Python.
- Experience building and supporting production applications, services or APIs.
- Understanding of software engineering principles, including:
- Object-oriented design
- Automated testing
- Version control
- CI/CD
- Secure coding
- Observability and monitoring

- Experience working with relational or non-relational databases and data-oriented applications.
- Ability to analyse complex problems and communicate solutions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working effectively in distributed, cross-location teams.
- Willingness to learn and apply AI engineering practices, including model and prompt evaluation, retrieval-augmented generation, orchestration, monitoring and responsible AI controls.

Desirable experience

- Experience delivering AI, machine learning, generative AI or automation solutions.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerised applications, such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with event-driven architectures, microservices or distributed systems.
- Knowledge of lending decisioning, credit processes, servicing, collections, risk or customer onboarding.
- Experience with data engineering, data quality, feature engineering or model integration.
- Familiarity with MLOps, LLMOps, model monitoring or AI application evaluation.
- Experience working in a regulated financial services environment.
- Practical understanding of secure development, identity and access management, encryption and data protection.
