About the role

We are seeking a Fixed Assets Specialist (Operations & Engineering) to join our Manufacturing team in Belgium.

This role is responsible for supporting the safe, compliant and efficient operation of Orica’s manufacturing facilities, while providing engineering oversight across production, maintenance, distribution and fixed asset management activities. The successful candidate will work closely with operational teams and site leadership to ensure regulatory compliance, asset reliability, operational excellence and continuous improvement across the site.

The position offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise within a highly regulated industrial environment while contributing to the ongoing management and improvement of key manufacturing assets, infrastructure and operational processes.

What you will be doing

Site Operations and Compliance

• Support the safe and compliant operation of manufacturing facilities in accordance with Orica standards and applicable Belgian regulations.

• Monitor and support compliance activities, audits, inspections, corrective actions and site governance requirements.

• Promote a strong Safety, Health, Environment and Security (SHES) culture through visible leadership and engagement with operational teams.

• Support the implementation and management of site compliance systems, risk management activities and operational procedures.

Asset Management and Engineering Support

• Support the management and performance of fixed assets, including manufacturing equipment, infrastructure and mobile equipment.

• Identify and implement engineering improvements to enhance safety, reliability, operational efficiency and asset performance.

• Support engineering assessments, equipment upgrades and capital improvement initiatives.

• Coordinate engineering activities with internal stakeholders, maintenance teams and external contractors.

• Assist in the evaluation, selection and implementation of equipment and engineering solutions.

Operations Leadership

• Provide operational oversight across production, maintenance and distribution activities.

• Support site teams to ensure operational priorities, standards and requirements are effectively communicated and implemented.

• Collaborate with supervisors and operational personnel to optimise site performance and operational efficiency.

• Monitor operational performance and support continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.

Stakeholder and Contractor Management

• Build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

• Manage contractor activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and in compliance with site requirements.

• Support collaboration between Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, SHES and Engineering teams.

What you will bring

• Degree qualification in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Production Engineering or a related discipline.

• Experience within manufacturing, industrial processing, chemicals, energy, mining, oil & gas, or another high-risk operational environment.

• Experience working with plant equipment, fixed assets, maintenance programmes or industrial operations.

• Understanding of engineering principles, operational risk management and regulatory compliance requirements.

• Experience supervising operational personnel, contractors or technical teams.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to make practical engineering decisions.

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities within a dynamic operational environment.

• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship-building skills.

• Organised and solution-oriented approach to work.

• Fluent French and English language skills.

• Experience within explosives manufacturing or other highly regulated industrial environments would be advantageous.

• Experience within plant operations, manufacturing or maintenance environments will be valued.
