Job Title: LPN Lab Manager Job Description
The LPN Lab Manager provides hands-on clinical support while coordinating the daily operations of an outpatient IV therapy and laboratory area. This position combines direct patient care, phlebotomy, specimen management, IV therapy support, clinical documentation, inventory control, patient education, and team leadership. The role is ideal for a clinically skilled professional who wants to take ownership of a key patient-service area and contribute to efficient, high-quality outpatient wellness care.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for scheduled IV therapy and laboratory services, ensuring a welcoming, professional, and safe experience.
- Obtain and document vital signs and other relevant clinical information accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Verify required consents, treatment documentation, and orders before initiating clinical services.
- Observe patients for changes in condition during and after treatments and promptly report concerns to the supervising provider.
- Prepare and administer provider-ordered IV hydration, nutrients, vitamins, medications, and injections when permitted by licensure, training, competency, and supervision requirements.
- Perform venipuncture and phlebotomy, ensuring accurate patient identification and specimen labeling.
- Process laboratory specimens by labeling, centrifuging, separating, refrigerating, freezing, packaging, and routing them according to established protocols.
- Manage specimen storage, packaging, and shipment, including preparation of requisitions and maintenance of temperature logs.
- Coordinate with receiving laboratories to ensure timely and accurate specimen handling and reporting.
- Organize incoming laboratory reports for provider review and support follow-up activities under established clinical protocols.
- Maintain appropriate clinical supply levels, monitor expiration dates and lot numbers, and ensure emergency supplies are ready and available.
- Organize clinical storage areas and maintain par levels to support smooth daily operations.
- Review upcoming schedules to anticipate clinical needs and prepare required supplies, documentation, and treatment areas in advance.
- Keep patient-care areas clean, organized, and compliant with infection-control and safety standards.
- Apply aseptic technique, Standard Precautions, sharps safety, infection control, and bloodborne-pathogen procedures consistently.
- Document treatments, medications, patient education, clinical observations, and patient responses accurately and on the same day in the EMR.
- Recognize changes in a patients condition and escalate clinical, operational, or safety concerns to the appropriate licensed provider.
- Train and guide qualified support staff in clinical workflows, laboratory processes, and IV therapy support.
- Delegate appropriate routine duties to support staff, verify task completion, and reinforce adherence to protocols and quality standards.
- Help build efficient processes for balancing scheduled treatments, specimen workflows, documentation, inventory management, and team coordination.
- Ensure all clinical activities remain within lawful scope of practice, active credentials, demonstrated competency, provider orders, organizational policies, and required supervision.
Essential Skills
- Active, current LPN license in good standing.
- IV certification with the ability to implement and manage IV catheters.
- Demonstrated experience performing IV placement and providing IV therapy support in an outpatient or similar clinical setting.
- Strong patient-care skills, including the ability to monitor patient status and respond appropriately to changes in condition.
- Proficient phlebotomy and venipuncture skills, with meticulous attention to accurate patient and specimen identification.
- Hands-on experience processing laboratory specimens, including labeling, centrifuging, separating, refrigerating, freezing, packaging, and routing.
- Working knowledge of aseptic technique, Standard Precautions, sharps safety, infection control, and bloodborne-pathogen procedures.
- Ability to maintain accurate, same-day EMR documentation for treatments, medications, patient education, clinical observations, and patient responses.
- Experience monitoring clinical inventory, including expiration dates, lot numbers, par levels, refrigerator and freezer temperatures, and emergency supplies.
- Ability to recognize and promptly escalate changes in a patients condition to a supervising licensed provider.
- Appropriate active healthcare license, certification, or credentials required for the clinical duties assigned to the role.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in functional or integrative medicine settings.
- Exposure to hormone therapy, peptide therapy, wellness programs, or medical weight-management services.
- Familiarity with specialty laboratory testing and compounded-medication workflows.
- Experience supporting aesthetic or wellness services in an outpatient environment.
- Team leadership experience, including training, task delegation, and workflow coordination.
- Current CPR/BLS certification, if not already required for assigned clinical responsibilities.
- Interest in building efficient clinical and laboratory processes and supporting continuous improvement in patient care.
Work Environment
This role is 100% onsite in a medical laboratory and outpatient IV therapy setting. The standard schedule runs Tuesdays through Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., offering consistent daytime hours. You will work independently in managing your patient-service area while also collaborating closely as part of a larger clinical team. Daily interactions include frequent contact with patients, providers, clinical personnel, administrative staff, external laboratories, and pharmacies. The work style is hands-on, patient-facing, detail-oriented, and fast-paced, requiring effective balancing of scheduled treatments, specimen workflows, documentation, inventory responsibilities, and team coordination. The environment emphasizes high standards of infection control, safety, and professional clinical practice, providing an opportunity to transition to a permanent role and grow within a multidisciplinary wellness-focused setting.

This is a Permanent position based out of Wilton Manors, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $58000.00 - $66000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
