Position Summary
This position develops, edits, organizes, and maintains clear, accurate technical documentation that supports nuclear-energy activities and communicates complex information to technical and nontechnical audiences.
The role works with subject matter experts and project stakeholders to ensure documents are complete, consistent, usable, and aligned with applicable quality, safety, security, and document-control expectations.
Responsibilities
- Develop, write, edit, and revise technical documents, procedures, reports, manuals, plans, specifications, work instructions, presentations, and related materials.
- Gather and validate technical information by collaborating with engineers, scientists, operations personnel, project managers, quality personnel, and other subject matter experts.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and audience-appropriate content while preserving technical accuracy and intent.
- Organize document content, terminology, graphics, tables, references, and appendices to improve readability, consistency, and usability.
- Apply approved templates, style standards, naming conventions, and document-control practices throughout the document lifecycle.
- Review documentation for grammar, clarity, completeness, consistency, formatting, and compliance with project and client requirements.
- Coordinate document reviews, incorporate reviewer comments, reconcile revisions, and maintain accurate version and change information.
- Manage multiple documentation assignments and priorities while meeting established schedules and deliverable commitments.
- Protect sensitive, proprietary, controlled, and project information in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Support continuous improvement of technical-writing processes, templates, standards, and document repositories.
Requirements
- Experience developing technical documentation for the nuclear industry.
- Demonstrated ability to write, edit, and format technical content for professional or regulated environments.
- Ability to understand complex technical information and communicate accurately to varied audiences.
- Knowledge of technical writing principles, document organization, grammar, punctuation, and editorial standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and other standard office productivity tools used to create and manage technical documents.
- Ability to work effectively with subject matter experts, incorporate technical feedback, and maintain document accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, revisions, and deadlines in a collaborative project environment.
- Ability to follow applicable quality, safety, security, confidentiality, and document-control requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with procedures, work instructions, technical reports, plans, specifications, manuals, or controlled documents.
- Familiarity with nuclear-industry terminology, quality-assurance expectations, configuration management, and formal review and approval processes.
- Experience using document-management, collaboration, publishing, or version-control systems.
- Ability to develop or edit supporting tables, figures, process flows, and presentation materials.
Education and Experience
- Education and experience requirements will be evaluated based on demonstrated technical-writing capability and relevant experience supporting technical or regulated work. A degree in technical communication, English, communications, engineering, science, or a related field is preferred.
