Introduction to the Role

Are you passionate about shaping brand strategy, influencing customer behaviour, and creating campaigns that drive meaningful change?

As Marketing Lead, Strategy & Campaigns within AstraZeneca Haematology, you will be responsible for defining the strategic direction of the franchise and ensuring our brands remain differentiated, relevant, and compelling in an increasingly competitive environment.

Working closely with Medical, Customer Engagement, Sales, Market Access, and Oncology Business Excellence colleagues, you will translate customer insight, emerging evidence, and competitive intelligence into winning strategies, compelling brand narratives, and impactful campaign strategies and creative concepts.

You will play a pivotal role in defining the behavioural and belief shifts required to achieve our ambitions, ensuring every campaign, message, and customer initiative is aligned to a clear strategic objective and delivers measurable impact for patients, healthcare professionals, and the business.

Brand Strategy

- Own the Brand Strategic Plan and Brand Operational Plan, translating franchise ambitions into clear strategic priorities, belief shifts, and measures of success.
- Lead the translation of customer insight, emerging evidence, and competitive intelligence into differentiated strategic choices, positioning, messaging, and brand priorities.
- Shape the future direction of the brand by anticipating competitive threats, emerging opportunities, and evolving customer needs.
- Own the Strategy & Campaigns budget and investment priorities, ensuring resources are allocated to the strategic initiatives, campaigns, and opportunities most likely to deliver customer and business impact.

Positioning & Campaigns

- Own the national brand positioning, value proposition, narrative, and messaging framework, ensuring a clear, differentiated, and compelling story across customer touchpoints in collaboration with Customer Engagement teams.
- Lead the development of distinctive, insight-led campaign strategies and creative concepts designed to influence customer belief, behaviour, and adoption.
- Define campaign objectives, communication priorities, and success measures aligned to strategic business goals.
- Evaluate campaign effectiveness and apply learning to continuously strengthen strategy, messaging, creative, and future campaign development.

Leadership & Governance

- Provide strategic direction and coaching to Strategy & Campaigns Brand Managers and Associate Brand Managers.
- Represent the Strategy & Campaigns function within franchise leadership discussions, shaping strategic priorities, investment decisions, and business planning through a marketing, customer, and competitive lens.
- Build strong cross-functional partnerships across Customer Engagement, Sales, Medical, Market Access, and Oncology Business Excellence teams to ensure campaigns are evidence-based, customer-centric, and executable.
- Ensure all strategy, campaign, and communication activities comply with AstraZeneca governance requirements, internal policies, and the ABPI Code of Practice.

Essential Skills & Experience

- Degree-level qualification in a scientific, life-sciences, or related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong experience owning or leading pharmaceutical Brand Strategic and Operational Plans, translating business ambitions into clear strategic choices, objectives, belief or behaviour shifts, and measures of success.
- Substantial commercial marketing experience within oncology , with the scientific acumen to interpret complex clinical evidence and translate scientific, customer, market, and competitive insights into differentiated positioning, messaging, and brand priorities.
- Demonstrated success leading and evaluating insight-led campaign strategies and creative concepts, with strong evidence of their impact on customer behaviour, brand performance, or other defined business outcomes.
- Experience managing marketing budgets and making evidence-based investment decisions across competing strategic priorities, campaigns, and opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional brand planning and influence senior stakeholders within a matrix organisation, clearly communicating strategic recommendations, investment proposals, trade-offs, and performance.
- Experience providing strategic direction, constructive challenge, and coaching to marketers or commercial colleagues, establishing clear priorities and high standards of delivery.
- Sound understanding of pharmaceutical governance and the ABPI Code of Practice, with experience ensuring the compliant development and delivery of campaigns and communications.

Desirable Skills & Experience

- Strong understanding of the UK healthcare environment, including NHS structures, customer decision-making, and market dynamics.
- Experience working in highly competitive markets, market-shaping initiatives, or portfolio leadership roles.
- Experience applying AI and digital technologies to improve marketing effectiveness, insight generation, or campaign development.
- Experience leading organisational change, capability-building, or strategic transformation programmes.
